First – a bit about the Jubilee Sailing Trust (JST).

The charity was formed in 1978 and has two tall ships (Lord Nelson and Tenacious) that have been specially adapted so that anyone over 16 can crew.

Marie Curie Local Fundraising: Successful First Year

Engaging with the local community, raising some funds for Marie Curie Nurses, and having some fun along the way.

These were the aims for the newly formed Eastleigh and Chandler’s Ford Fundraising Group for Marie Curie.

So far in 2014 over £4,500 has been raised, thanks to the generosity and participation of local supporters.

New Ramalley Hall Lego Brick Cufflink Fundraiser

Last weekend, I learned about the new Ramalley Hall fundraiser in Chandler’s Ford.

The second Chandler’s Ford Ramalley Scout Group was raising awareness and money for the build of a new community hall. In total they require £270,000.

Jackie Edmunds and a few local crafters meet at Brambridge Park Garden Centre every Wednesday to craft together, swap ideas, and support one another.

I spent half a day in Eastleigh town centre yesterday to watch Eastleigh Mardi Gras.

Traditionally Mardi Gras (or Fat Tuesday in French) is a Christian holiday, commonly known as Shrove Tuesday, Pancake Day or Pancake Tuesday in the UK. Kati Csiszar Skydiving For ABF The Soldiers’ Charity

Asante Coffee shop, Winchester Road, Chandler’s Ford is opening specially on Sunday August 24th to raise funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

Eastleigh Lions Donation to Eastleigh Basics Bank.

Recently the Eastleigh Basics Bank marked the feeding of 8,000 people as Eastleigh Lions Club President Philip Spearey, along with other Club members, made a £1,000 donation towards the continuation of the basics bank project.

St. Boniface Choir Fundraising

St. Boniface Church choir

The Choir of St. Boniface church, Hursley Road held a coffee morning, cake stall and raffle recently to help raise funds for new books for the Evensong service (most Sundays at 6.30).

Well over £200 was added to the choir’s bank account as a result, and the books will be bought soon.

Lisa Clark’s Legacy

Dr Lisa-Jayne Clark's legacy.

Twenty years ago, our daughter Lisa was studying at Charing Cross Medical School. She once wrote a letter to say that she had just been to an oncology lecture and was very alarmed by the high incidence of women’s cancer and at a relatively low median age.

Betty Heath was 97 years old when she passed away on 29th January 2014.

Richard Stock: Fundraising for Ovacome

Richard Stock - London Marathon 13th April 2014. Richard raises money for Ovacome in memory of Dr. Lisa-Jayne Clark from Chandler’s Ford.

I’m pleased to tell you that Richard Stock completed the London Marathon in just over 4 hours yesterday.

This is a remarkable achievement for somebody who had never run a full marathon and indeed had never run over 20 miles!
