August 24: Asante For Marie Curie Cancer Care

August 12, 2014 By Ray Fishman 3 Comments

Asante Coffee shop, Winchester Road, Chandler’s Ford is opening specially on Sunday August 24th to raise funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

Asante proprietor Shirley Barter said the Asante coffee shops provide funds to assist young people in third-world countries to generate a living for themselves.

Normally profits from both Asante coffee shops in Chandler’s Ford and Romsey support the Life Centre school in Kisumu, Kenya, which provides education for the children and young people living in the slums there.

“However we would also like to do something for our local community and decided to hold a Blooming Great Tea Party to raise funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care.”

“We do hope our customers will support this event. We will be serving our usual menu and, of course tea and delicious cakes. All proceeds go to Marie Curie Cancer Care.”

As Chairman of the Eastleigh and Chandler’s Ford Fundraising Group for Marie Curie Cancer Care, I’m delighted that Asante are supporting the work of the Marie Curie nurses.

The money raised will help to provide qualified nurses, totally free, to give people with cancer and other terminal illnesses the choice of dying at home, supported by their families.

If anyone would like to make cakes to donate for sale please let me know. Come and have a cuppa with us any time on Sunday August 24th between 10.30am and 3.30pm. There will be cakes to take away too. Venue: Asante coffee shop, Unit 13, the Mall, Winchester Road, Chandler’s Ford, SO53 2QD.
