Marie Curie Local Fundraising: Successful First Year

November 5, 2014 By Ray Fishman 5 Comments

Engaging with the local community, raising some funds for Marie Curie Nurses, and having some fun along the way.

These were the aims for the newly formed Eastleigh and Chandler’s Ford Fundraising Group for Marie Curie.

So far in 2014 over £4,500 has been raised, thanks to the generosity and participation of local supporters.

Many entertaining events to suit you

We try to organise entertaining events for young and not so young. Successful events come about from good planning and even better publicity.

Look out for our posters around Eastleigh and Chandler’s Ford. We hope there is something to suit you all.

Engaging children at Chandler’s Ford Fryern school

All our group members have worked extremely hard in their own time; we are all volunteers. It was all worthwhile when you told us how much you appreciated our efforts.

Perhaps you were at the Summer Fayre at St Francis Primary School. A lovely summers day, it was a pleasure to meet the children, who loved the punch balloons on offer.

Blooming Great Tea Party in Valley Park

In July a very well attended Blooming Great Tea Party was held at the Church Hall in Valley Park. The Cleveland Bay was also a favoured stopover afterwards where we were part of the end of term fun. We were delighted to raise £600 at this event, an amazing day for all.

Asante Coffee Shop and Marie Curie Fundraiser

Did you come to Asante Coffee shop when they opened on August Bank Holiday, again in their own time, to help us? What a shame they have decided to leave Chandler’s Ford. You can still support them in their own charitable aims by popping into their Romsey shop, near Waitrose.

Upcoming fundraising at Concorde Club for Marie Curie

We already have over 80 persons signed up to take part in a Quiz at the Concorde Club on Thursday 27th November and would welcome additional teams. £12 a head includes a Curry or alternative meal. Visit Charity Quiz & Curry Night for more details.

Upcoming Table top sales for Marie Curie

We love a table top sale and have two coming up.

  • Saturday 11am to 2pm, 8th November: West End Parish Centre, Chapel Road, West End.
  • Sunday 11am to 3pm, 30th November: Christmas Bazaar at the Chilworth Village Hall

A chance to pick up some gifts, cards or homemade crafts. We do hope you can make at least one of these.

All in all a great year and we look forward to meeting you all again.

Marie Curie is updating the brand next year to support the ever growing needs of the community we serve. More of this in my next post. If you feel you can help in any way or want anymore information please do contact us. The first point of call is the local Fundraising Group Chairman, Ray Fishman on 07521 151 761 or by email: rayandlin@hotmail.com.
