Thornden sound of music review

It must be slightly daunting when planning to perform a well-known and loved musical. Everyone knows the story. Everyone knows what the songs are supposed to sound like. Can we do it justice? No such qualms need to have worried the cast and crew of who treated audiences to a feast of entertainment with Thornden School’s summer production of The Sound of Music last week.

Hope Eastleigh 2015 Highlights

This morning, my son and I went to Eastleigh town centre and was surprised to see lots of activities at Leigh Road Recreation Ground.

Earlier this year, I was pleased to meet Lyn Darbyshire MBE, former Scouting District Commissioner. Her insights into her involvement with The Gang Show led to my researching further into the show’s general history and Ralph Reader, the man behind the Gang Show.

Last night I watched Toynbee School’s production of the comedy musical Little Shop of Horrors.

Twenty Two year 7-10 pupils from Toynbee School are performing in a production of Little Shop of Horrors on the 8th, 9th and 10th July (Wednesday to Friday).

For the first time in the history of Scouting in Hampshire, the creative talents of multiple districts will be brought together in collaboration for a one night only performance as Hampshire Scouts present ‘Stepping Out’.

Eastleigh Museum Summer Soirée with the Chameleons

Players from the Chameleon Theatre Company entertained an audience at Eastleigh Museum with poems, monologues and a recitation of summer songs at a Summer Soirée on 25 June 2015.

Eastleigh Artists Shine: Mayor’s Ceremonial Mace and Chain

In 2014, glassware artist Carly Mann was commissioned by Eastleigh Borough Council to design and make a new Ceremonial Mace for the new Mayor of Eastleigh in collaboration with Prysmian Group.

Methodist Church: Wedding Dress Festival

Chandler’s Ford Methodist Church will be holding an exciting Wedding Dress Festival.

You’ll have a chance to view over 50 wedding dresses and some bridesmaids dresses, which between them span over 70 years.

Voluntary Fire Fighters BBQ

Eastleigh celebrate volunteers exhibition

Eastleigh is celebrating voluntary and community organisations this summer.

The Hampshire Cultural Trust’s Celebrate Volunteers exhibition runs from 23 May to 27 June at Eastleigh Museum, 25 High Street, Eastleigh SO50 5LF.

Air Conditioning in the Ritchie Memorial Hall

The Chandler’s Ford Community Association agreed at a Management Committee meeting this week to install air conditioning in the Ritchie Memorial Hall.

With several hot summers behind us coupled with full houses as a result of increasing popularity of our productions, the temperature in the Ritchie Hall was often exceeding 30 degrees Centigrade.
