Chandler’s Ford Itchen Walk 2015

Update: Chandler’s Ford Itchen Walk 2016: Sunday 12th June 2016

The original post:

We went for a walk in Otterbourne along the Itchen this afternoon with some friends.

We bumped into some people doing the Chandler’s Ford Itchen Walk, organised by Rotary Club of Chandler’s Ford & Itchen Valley.

Chandler's Ford Itchen Walk logoThe Rotary Club of Chandler’s Ford & Itchen Valley have built on the success of last year’s walk and have included an optional extension to the route this year.

You raise money for your chosen community group or charity by taking part in this sponsored walk.

On my walk, I bumped into Wendy Blackman, with Tinnie, her patterdale terrier.

Wendy is raising money for her chosen charity, Southampton Blue Cross. Blue Cross finds happy homes for abandoned or unwanted pets. They have a fabulous rehoming centre in West End.

I also bumped into Ian and Mike from the Rotary Club.

Today is the birthday of Martin from Hiltingbury. He and his family celebrated his birthday by taking this charity walk.

Martin joined the Itchen Walk with family on his birthday today.

Lovely day for a walk by the Itchen.

Lovely day too for watching cricket. Busy ferrying grand children around but stayed to watch one play his first match for his new club. Ten, not out; so a good start especially as they won the game.

Meanwhile Mrs S helped with riding lesson and then taxied the grand daughter to a party. Disaster – she had been given the wrong address and there was nobody home. Got it right eventually.

There was an Itchen walk last Sunday too and we got caught up in it. It was more a run than a walk so I was glad not to be taking part.

Many thanks to the Rotary Club for organising such a lovely event! And also to those that sponsored me – I met some great new friends and Tinnie had a ball. Bumping into my friend Janet, near the end of the walk, was the icing on the cake – it’s been ages. x
