Eastleigh Museum Summer Soirée with the Chameleons

June 26, 2015 By SO53 News 1 Comment

Players from the Chameleon Theatre Company entertained an audience at Eastleigh Museum with poems, monologues and a recitation of summer songs at a Summer Soirée on 25 June 2015.

The event was organised by the Eastleigh Museum Supporters Club, and the varied programme ranged from Dorothy Parker to William Wordsworth.

The recitation of summer songs concluded with a spontaneous sing-song of Summer Holiday, with enthusiastic audience participation.

The Chameleons, celebrating their 50th anniversary this year, are a popular Chandler’s Ford theatrical group, with productions playing to packed audiences at the Ritchie Hall.

The poetry evening is a new addition to their repertoire – designed in partnership with One Community, to raise the profile of the museum as a centre of community and cultural life.

Note: Members of the Chameleon Theatre Company pictured are Stephen Fenerty, Lisa Dunbar and, reciting, Geoff Dodsworth.

In response to an unprecedented demand for tickets for their next production, “Relatively Speaking”, more seating has been added to each of the performances.

Also, to celebrate the Chameleons’ 50th year, a bar will be opened at 7pm each night. Drinks will be served in the green room before the performance and during the interval.

Together with the new air conditioning system installed in The Ritchie Memorial Hall this month, your experience of a cheese and wine evening and watching the wonderful production will be one to remember.

Mr and Mrs Brown looked rather happy there. Such a treat for Mr Brown after a hard day driving a steam train. For once Mrs Brown didn’t turn on her Cossor radio. Live poetry must have been more entertaining.
