Centrestage Production Youth Theatre recently performed The Phantom of the Opera at The Point theatre in Eastleigh. The youngsters received a standing ovation with their outstanding performances.

Barbara Hillier: Story of My Great Uncle Wilfred Herbert Hillier and His Memorial Plaque

Last Saturday (28th February 2015), Chandler’s Ford historian Barbara Hillier shared a poignant story of her great uncle Wilfred Herbert Hillier, who died on the 7th of October 1916 in action in France, aged only 30.

Barbara’s storytelling was linked with a unique memorial plaque, which was once lost, but was never forgotten.

In Loving Memory of Wilfred Herbert Hillier

A restored plaque at the Dovetail Centre in Chandler's Ford Methodist Church: remembering Wilfred Herbert Hillier.

On the 7th of October 1916, 30-year-old Wilfred Herbert Hillier from Chandler’s Ford was killed in action in France. There was no known grave.

Hampshire Libraries and My Love for Graphic Novels

teenager epicduda enjoys reading graphic novels. Winchester Library has a good collection of comics and Graphic Novels.

I’ve stated before that I like Chandler’s Ford library and Eastleigh library.

Inspiring Artists from the Sorting Office Studios Eastleigh

Meeting the inspiring artists from the Sorting Office Studios from Eastleigh.

Chandler’s Ford Library provides us with books, music, and films, and yesterday, the library also brought us the most talented artists from The Sorting Office Studios in Eastleigh.

I’ve been following the artists around Eastleigh since last year and it was very lovely to see some of them again in Chandler’s Ford Library.

One Community Older People’s Network – Chandler’s Ford 5th March 2015

One Community is the Council of Voluntary Service (CVS) for the Eastleigh area. It has set up a quarterly Network meeting for people aged 60 and over for the community.

Review: The Wizard of Oz by the Chameleons

A few days ago my wife and I had the pleasure of meeting up with Janet Williams and her husband at the Hiltonbury Pub, my old home, and we discussed the way Chandler’s Ford had grown over the years.

In the entrance hall of the pub there is a photograph of Hiltonbury taken from the air in about 1974 and Janet suggested that I took a photograph of it and put it on the blog with some descriptions of some of the buildings in the photographs so here goes.
