Public Exhibition: Land South Of Chestnut Avenue, North Stoneham Park: Friday 12th December

December 8, 2014 By Dan Brain 3 Comments

As many will already know Stoneham Park has been put forward as a site for development in the Council’s local plan, with 1100 homes proposed to be built on the site (plus 50 by Test Valley).

A second exhibition has now been arranged for Friday 12th December between 3pm and 7.30pm at The Pavillion on the Park, 1 Kingfisher Road, Eastleigh, SO50 9LH.

The first public exhibition was held on the 24th October at Pavillion in the Park in Eastleigh.

You can read more and download the information on Land South of Chestnut Avenue Proposals & Plans from Highwood Group’s website.

This exhibition is important for 4 reasons (I’m sure there are more, feel free to state them):

1. Developers are expected to put in a planning application for the site in January 2015.

2. The local plan has failed to pass examination leaving Eastleigh open to hostile developments.

3. As a result of points 1 and 2 and with local area committee backing this development, the odds of this going ahead are increasingly likely. So we need to ensure we shape what does happen there by expressing our opinions.

4. This is valuable green space, with historical importance, providing a gap between Eastleigh and Southampton, and is on an already heavily congested peak time road.

Please do make sure your opinions are expressed as this will have a big impact on our local area.

Highwood Group published Second Exhibition Announced on its website on 25th November 2014:

“Following on from the first exhibition in October, we can now confirm that a second event has been arranged.

We have considered all of the feedback made at the previous event and have made a number of changes to the master plan to reflect those comments. This event will allow residents to see how the plan has evolved and a chance to discuss the changes in greater detail with the Highwood team.”
