The Poppies At The Tower Of London

November 25, 2014 By Nick John 4 Comments

Poppies at the Tower of London

Whilst visiting London on business a few weeks ago I made the time to wander down to the Tower of London to have a look at the poppy artwork installation, which has received quite a bit of positive commentary.

My visit was at the end of October so the artwork wasn’t complete but a substantial portion of it was done as you may see from the few pictures that I took. [Read more…] about The Poppies At The Tower Of London

2014 Eastleigh Christmas Lights Switch on: Snow Has Fallen

November 23, 2014 By chippy minton 19 Comments

The first snow of winter fell in Eastleigh town centre yesterday. What, you missed it? You can’t have been in the right place at the right time.

I have to admit to being a bit of a Grinch when it comes to starting Christmas festivities too early.

If I could get away with it (and I rarely can) decorations wouldn’t go up until Christmas Eve [Read more…] about 2014 Eastleigh Christmas Lights Switch on: Snow Has Fallen

I saw Jeeves and Wooster in Perfect Nonsense at The Mayflower Theatre on Tuesday 18th November 2014, its opening night.

Sadly the run is only on in Southampton for a few days but I would urge anyone who loves comedy and/or the works of P.G. Wodehouse to try to see this wonderful show. It is currently touring the UK. [Read more…] about Review: Jeeves And Wooster In Perfect Nonsense At The Mayflower Theatre

Eastleigh Bunting & Eastleigh Museum WW1 Poetry Evening

November 4, 2014 By Janet Williams 6 Comments

My son and I visited Eastleigh Museum during the half term holiday.

We saw a WW1 exhibition called Soldiers’ Journey. It is a multi-venue exhibition that portrays Hampshire’s critical role throughout the First World War.

I was attracted by beautiful buntings, which adorned the walls on the walkway to the hall.

Frankenstein – National Theatre Live At Thornden Hall

November 1, 2014 By Janet Williams 5 Comments

So happy to report another Sold Out week last week when we staged The Ladykillers.

This classic 1958 Ealing comedy was adapted for the stage by Graham Linehan, who wrote Father Ted. His script was fabulous to deliver to our full houses each night.

It had its dark moments too when [Read more…] about Chameleons: From Ladykillers To Wizard Of Oz

Theatre Review: The Ladykillers By Chameleon Theatre Company

October 27, 2014 By Ben Williams 25 Comments

The Ladykillers by Chameleon Theatre Company, Chandler's Ford, Eastleigh.

On Saturday my parents and I forfeited Doctor Who (BLASPHEMY!!) to watch a local theatre performance by the Chameleon Theatre Company in Chandler’s Ford of Eastleigh.

It was a performance of The Ladykillers and, as a favour for my mum (not that I’d usually do favours for her), I’ll review it.

The story revolves around five bank robbers [Read more…] about Theatre Review: The Ladykillers By Chameleon Theatre Company

October 24, 2014 By Janet Williams 11 Comments

(Left to right): Tricia Urquhart, Sue Hunt, and Heather Dibb.

There is a strong and well-connected Fairtrade community in Chandler’s Ford. The Fairtrade Christmas shopping event last Friday (17th October 2014) at Hiltingbury just proved it.

Tricia Urquhart from Hiltingbury organised a successful Fairtrade Christmas get-together for the community at St. Martin in the Wood Church, where I met old and new friends, who enjoyed an alternative Christmas shopping experience.
