2014 Eastleigh Christmas Lights Switch on: Snow Has Fallen

November 23, 2014 By chippy minton 19 Comments

The first snow of winter fell in Eastleigh town centre yesterday. What, you missed it? You can’t have been in the right place at the right time.

I have to admit to being a bit of a Grinch when it comes to starting Christmas festivities too early.

If I could get away with it (and I rarely can) decorations wouldn’t go up until Christmas Eve [Read more…] about 2014 Eastleigh Christmas Lights Switch on: Snow Has Fallen

November 4, 2014 By Janet Williams 6 Comments

My son and I visited Eastleigh Museum during the half term holiday.

We saw a WW1 exhibition called Soldiers’ Journey. It is a multi-venue exhibition that portrays Hampshire’s critical role throughout the First World War.

I was attracted by beautiful buntings, which adorned the walls on the walkway to the hall.

Self-Employment In Sri Lanka

June 29, 2014 By Mike Sedgwick 4 Comments

While in Sri Lanka, quite by chance we came across a party of ex-pats calling themselves the ‘Discovery’ group. They meet once a month and go off to explore a hidden part of Sri Lanka. Hidden to tourists and even most Sri Lankans that is.

Today a convoy of 6 vehicles left Kandy for the south and we soon turned off the main road to an un-named village in the jungle.

Going Bananas Fairtrade Fashion Show: March 8

February 26, 2014 By Hazel Bateman 5 Comments

More than 30 years ago, I visited a World Development Movement meeting and saw a film about the way multi-national companies operate around the world. It prompted me to start a Traidcraft stall at my church in Ruislip Manor.

In Chandler’s Ford, I assisted Louise before and now assist Janet with her Traidcraft stall at St. Boniface Church.

We can often feel helpless when [Read more…] about Going Bananas Fairtrade Fashion Show: March 8
