Remember David Tripp, who plays easy listening cool jazz music? David is a professional musician from Chandler’s Ford. I met him for the first time at the Fryern Funtasia event early this month.

Today, David sent me a surprised ‘thank you’ gift, in the form of an mp3 via email.

I love this little surprise. [Read more…] about Autumn Leaves In Summer

Fryern Funtasia 2013: Blissful With Centrestage Youth

May 10, 2013 By Janet Williams 2 Comments

CPYT -- August performance at The Point Theatre

At Fryern Funtasia 2013 in Chandler’s Ford, I relaxed on the grass and enjoyed a blissful open air theatre moment. It was a luxury.

Fryern Recreation Ground was filled with music: Chandler’s Ford Boys’ Brigade Brass Band, Cool Jazz by David Tripp, and the open air theatre by the very talented young people from Centrestage Productions Youth Theatre. [Read more…] about Fryern Funtasia 2013: Blissful With Centrestage Youth

Fryern Funtasia 2013: Steam Train With Charming Fat Controller

May 8, 2013 By Janet Williams 1 Comment

The Fat Controller thoroughly enjoyed himself at Fryern Funtasia 2013 in Chandler’s Ford. He was meticulous with his job. He entertained young and old visitors with a great sense of humour.

After one exhausting duty, Russell had a chat with me and joked that the Fat Controller does exist. [Read more…] about Fryern Funtasia 2013: Steam Train With Charming Fat Controller

I walked along Hursley Road this afternoon, and was surprised by the cheerfulness of the Union Jack bunting of this shop — SANDELI.

This is actually a new cafe, which opens today. It’s on No 149, Hursley Road, SO53, Chandler’s Ford, [Read more…] about Hursley Road – New Cafe SANDELI Opened Today

“We’re Sorry To Be Leaving Fryern…But…”

May 1, 2013 By Janet Williams 12 Comments

I picked up this notice last weekend at the post office in Fryern Arcade, Chandler’s Ford.

It’s a simple message from the Fryern Dry Cleaners, but you can still feel a tinge of sadness: [Read more…] about “We’re Sorry To Be Leaving Fryern…But…”

Street Pastors In Chandler’s Ford: Who Are They?

April 28, 2013 By Janet Williams 1 Comment

You may have heard about a group of people called Street Pastors.

Who are they? What do they do? Where can you find them?

Here is an interview with Elizabeth Seaman, one of the street pastors in Chandler’s Ford. In the interview below, Elizabeth talks about her experience as a Street Pastor, working together with Jill and Roy Johnson.  [Read more…] about Street Pastors In Chandler’s Ford: Who Are They?

No Teddy Bear’s Picnic: Walking In The Woods

April 28, 2013 By Ben Williams 3 Comments

If you go down to the woods today you’re in for a big surprise – and it’s NOT bears! We have two woods near us – one is Ramalley, the other is Flexford. Flexford has cows and rabbits; Ramalley has trees and dogs. I name one of the trees as the Big Tree, but it’s very small! (Joke!)

I enjoy walking in the woods, and I walk with my dad all the time, and sometimes we would walk with our neighbours and their dog. [Read more…] about No Teddy Bear’s Picnic: Walking In The Woods

How Much Is A Cuppa In Chandler’s Ford?

April 16, 2013 By Janet Williams 12 Comments

I mentioned a while ago that The Coffee Room in the Dovetail Centre at the Methodist Church in Chandler’s Ford is a warm and friendly place for the community.

I also pointed out that prices for the drinks are low — so low that you may even feel guilty.

Last weekend, I had a chance to speak to Barbara Lowe, senior steward of the Methodist Church. [Read more…] about How Much Is A Cuppa In Chandler’s Ford?

Why Not Pick Up A Good Book At Chandler’s Ford Train Station?

April 14, 2013 By Janet Williams 6 Comments

Books at Chandler\s Ford train station

I travelled from Chandler’s Ford train station 3 times during the spring holiday.

This station is indeed a delight. Helpful staff, fragrant coffee, and while waiting for the train, you will sure find some good books from the second hand book stall, just next to the ticket office. [Read more…] about Why Not Pick Up A Good Book At Chandler’s Ford Train Station?
