Welcome With A Fairtrade Message

March 19, 2013 By Janet Williams 5 Comments

Welcome to this new Chandler’s Ford community website.

I would like to welcome the birth of this site with a short post about Fairtrade In Eastleigh.

I attended the lovely Fairtrade Coffee Morning last weekend at the Methodist Church in Chandler’s Ford. It was fantastic to meet a few local fair traders from Traidcraft and Tearcraft.

Despite the miserable weather, the atmosphere indoors was fabulous. The Fairtrade home-made cakes were mouth watering. I  couldn’t keep my eyes off the craft stalls.

A representative named Elizabeth from Fairtrade in Eastleigh Borough Campaign steering committee was also present.

With the support of Eastleigh Borough Council, the committee is endeavouring to achieve Fairtrade Borough status for Eastleigh.

Eastleigh needs to meet the minimum Fairtrade Borough criteria to apply for Fairtrade status.

If you want Eastleigh to achieve this status, you could help support the campaign in many ways:

  • You can inform Fairtrade in Eastleigh Borough Campaign steering committee of any businesses within Eastleigh Borough that you know are selling or serving Fairtrade marked goods or of any local workplaces that you know are using Fairtrade goods.
  • You can become a network member and be kept informed of news and events.
  • For a small charge, you can become a group member and have a say in the election of the steering committee and how the campaign is run.
  • You can even become a member of the Committee – the committee would warmly welcome those with enthusiasm, ideas and commitment.

If you are a local Fair Trader, please contact me and tell me where you are and your opening hours.

Tell me something special about your stalls.

Send me pictures about your stalls.

I’d love to hear about you.

With our effort, more people will hear about the stories behind the products and how buying Fairtrade changes lives.
