Fairtrade Shopping Evening 2019 – Buy Fairtrade and Make a Difference

November 10, 2019 By Janet Williams Leave a Comment

The Fairtrade shopping evening at St Martin in the Wood Church in Hiltingbury last Friday was successful and enjoyable. Many people attended and had an opportunity to buy a variety of high quality fairtrade products to support disadvantaged producers and workers in the developing world.

Fairtrade events encourage us to be ethical consumers and raise awareness of trade justice.

Review: Chandler’s Ford Joint Charities 45th Christmas Market 2018

November 15, 2018 By Janet Williams 2 Comments

As the government is in Brexit turmoil (‘near Civil War’, according to the BBC), we’re bringing you some stability here from Chandler’s Ford for a change.

The annual Chandler’s Ford Joint Charities Christmas Market brings the sort of stability, unity, and friendship that we all need at times of crisis. Last weekend I went to the market, as I had done so for many years, and felt warmth, joy, and a genuine sense of hope for the future. A Letter to Our Readers: Concern about a Huge Tree Adjacent to Monk’s Brook

October 11, 2018 By SO53 News 1 Comment

By Gopinath Chandroth

There is a huge tree adjacent to Monk’s Brook. It is creaking like a heavy door on unoiled hinges. It is very close to the cycle/foot path. The nearest houses are on Fowey Close (SO53 4SQ).

There is a high likelihood that the tree may come crashing down on to the path, and because it is huge, on to the bungalows on Fowey Close. I have reported it online and hopefully it should be attended to soon. Meanwhile beware. [Read more…] about A Letter to Our Readers: Concern about a Huge Tree Adjacent to Monk’s Brook
