Well, I was, and it was great to meet up with Janet once again and, later, to meet Roger Clark, fellow CFT contributor. Many thanks to Janet for the selfie (and I guess you could have called this an outdoor editorial meeting!).

Fryern Funtasia 6th May 2019 in Chandler’s Ford

May 7, 2019 By Janet Williams 2 Comments

Once again I spent the May Bank Holiday at Fryern Funtasia yesterday – as I did every single year in the past few years.

I really love the traditional open-space event, where I met up with a few old friends there, and soaked up some local news (or gossips) from just walking about. [Read more…] about Fryern Funtasia 6th May 2019 in Chandler’s Ford

A Great Community Event: Fryern Funtasia 2018

May 7, 2018 By Janet Williams 1 Comment

Today’s Fryern Funtasia in Chandler’s Ford was fun, as usual, and it was very well managed. Congratulations! I heard a few children fainted due to heat, but hope they have had some rest and are now feeling better. The organisers deserve our praise – they have put in so much effort to make sure everything ran so smoothly. [Read more…] about A Great Community Event: Fryern Funtasia 2018

Festivals

May 6, 2017 By Mike Sedgwick Leave a Comment

This is the time of year for festivals. After the self-imposed misery of Lent, it starts with Easter. When is Easter? Bishop’s secretaries throughout the land are kept busy answering that question.

Easter Sunday is the first Sunday after the full moon that occurs on or soonest after March 21st, the Spring Equinox. So now you know for all time. The earliest Easter Sunday will be on March 22nd but that will not happen until 2285 so you need not worry about it. The latest possible is April 25th and that will be in 2038. Fun Day – Fryern Funtasia 2016

May 13, 2016 By Allison Symes 1 Comment

Another first for me this year has been to visit the Fryern Funtasia on Bank Holiday Monday, 2nd May 2016.  How to tell it is a Bank Holiday Monday? Because the weather closes in!

The weather held off long enough to not get in the way of a good show at the Fryern Recreation Ground. Nor did it stop the youngsters having a wonderful time on the bouncy castle, the bouncy slides, the pony ride, go kart track and so on. [Read more…] about Fun Day – Fryern Funtasia 2016

Voice of a Teenager: How to Improve Chandler’s Ford

September 16, 2015 By Ben Williams 5 Comments

After the summer holiday in Perth and Singapore, I thought it would take a long while to get used to Chandler’s Ford life, but I have been able to recover quickly and adjust to the ordinary. My perception on many things changed slightly, more specifically how Chandler’s Ford can be improved.

Obviously I don’t hate it here. [Read more…] about Voice of a Teenager: How to Improve Chandler’s Ford

Harris Hawk Flying over Our Faces

May 30, 2014 By Richard Mould-Ryan Leave a Comment

Harris Hawk by Falcon High, in Chandler's Ford Fryern Funtasia 2014.

We live in West End, have two young children, and had no plans for the early May bank holiday. When I read about the Fryern Funtasia in Chandler’s Ford it sounded ideal; not too far away, lots for the girls to do and some falconry as well which I’m always interested to see.

As it happened the conditions weren’t ideal for Falcon High to get the best out of their birds; [Read more…] about Harris Hawk Flying over Our Faces

The Myth of Thomas The Tank Engine

May 9, 2014 By Janet Williams 11 Comments

Russell and Chris feature

I met the Fat Controller Russell again in Chandler’s Ford.

Russell and his father Chris charmed the people who rode their steam train at the Fryern Funtasia last Monday.

I spent most of my afternoon at the steam train, observing people and watching the steam train puff out its smoke and steam as it chugged along its 100-foot-long track. [Read more…] about The Myth of Thomas The Tank Engine
