Ramalley Cemetery: Entrance Cleared; Free Logs

February 18, 2014 By Janet Williams 1 Comment

Yesterday I told you a huge tree fell and blocked the entrance to Ramalley Cemetery.

I also informed Eastleigh Borough Council about what I saw.

This afternoon, I found the tree had been removed, and you get free logs too: [Read more…] about Ramalley Cemetery: Entrance Cleared; Free Logs

Huge Fallen Tree Blocks Ramalley Cemetery

February 17, 2014 By Janet Williams 3 Comments

This afternoon, we saw a huge fallen tree blocking the entrance to Ramalley Cemetery.

If you are of medium build, you could still squeeze into the cemetery through a narrow gap at the gate. However, if you are not very mobile, or you are a wheelchair user, at the moment, it is impossible to get into Ramalley Cemetery. [Read more…] about Huge Fallen Tree Blocks Ramalley Cemetery

Fleming Park: Steaming Hot In February

February 8, 2014 By Hazel Bateman 1 Comment

Steaming hot in February!

There are some advantages to being 60 in Chandler’s Ford.

Last year, my husband and I discovered that residents over 60 can apply for a Leisure Pass for Fleming Park Leisure Centre, which allows the holder to access the facilities for half price during off-peak times. We have been merrily swimming and gym-ing ever since! [Read more…] about Fleming Park: Steaming Hot In February

What Are You Opening This Christmas?

December 18, 2013 By Janet Williams 2 Comments

Eastleigh Basics Bank

I picked up a postcard by the Eastleigh Basics Bank last month in Eastleigh.

It asks an important question: “What are you opening this Christmas?”

The postcard features two images. One shows someone opening a bottle of champagne; another shows a person opening a tin of food. [Read more…] about What Are You Opening This Christmas?

November 23, 2013 By Janet Williams 16 Comments

Dave Keating: improving awareness of Eastleigh Basics Bank.

The Eastleigh Basics Bank is a brilliant organisation. It gives practical support to individuals and families in financial crisis.

Eastleigh Town Centre today has been turned into a scene of carnival.

In the morning, I saw Dave Keating, the shop manager of Eastleigh Basics Bank, [Read more…] about What Can You Do To Support Eastleigh Basics Bank?

Eastleigh Town Centre: St John Ambulance

November 23, 2013 By Janet Williams 10 Comments

St. John volunteers - ready for switching on of Eastleigh’s Christmas lights event last November.

In Eastleigh Town centre this morning, I saw a huge presence of St John Ambulance.

You may know that today the world is celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Doctor Who. It is The Day of the Doctor. [Read more…] about Eastleigh Town Centre: St John Ambulance

Eastleigh Town Centre Filled With Joy Today

November 23, 2013 By Janet Williams 8 Comments

In Eastleigh today: Obi Wan Kenobi and Stormtrooper from Star Wars, and Predator.

I  didn’t realise today is such an important day in Eastleigh when I went to town this morning.

I was totally surprised by what I saw in such a vibrant town centre: happy people, live band, free soup and food, rock climbing, charity stalls, and even Star Wars and Predator characters were in town. [Read more…] about Eastleigh Town Centre Filled With Joy Today

Eastleigh War Memorials

November 12, 2013 By chippy minton 4 Comments

Eastleigh War Memorial

Something that guidebooks to Eastleigh tell you is that the design of the town’s war memorial is “very unusual”.

What provides this distinction is the figure of the Angel of Mons on the top.

However, as far as I know, none of the guidebooks explain why Eastleigh does have an angel [Read more…] about Eastleigh War Memorials

May 1, 2013 By Janet Williams Leave a Comment

Most of us give money.

But sometimes, we can also give our time.

Could you spare some time to be a Christian Aid collector in May?

During the Christian Aid Week, from 12-18 May, there will be house-to-house collections across Eastleigh, organised by volunteers in local churches. [Read more…] about Christian Aid Needs Your Help Urgently
