Changing Seasons

Feature Image - Changing Seasons

I love the autumn and its changing colours but this is not a family trait. My maternal grandmother hated the season, seeing it as the time when everything died. Ironically perhaps, she died in a September. [Read more…] about Changing Seasons

Walking in Flexford Wood on a Foggy Day

January 1, 2017 By Janet Williams 5 Comments

This is a blog post about…fog.

We went for a walk in the wood yesterday afternoon, and saw Chandler’s Ford through fog.

We walked through Flexford Wood, then through to Valley Park.

The birds were chirping, and dogs could be heard barking from the distance. [Read more…] about Walking in Flexford Wood on a Foggy Day

Tomb Sweeping Day

April 5, 2014 By Janet Williams 3 Comments

Tomb Sweeping Day - image by Yellow on Flickr. Taichung City, Taiwan, 2012.

I have almost forgotten today is the Tomb Sweeping Day to the Chinese people.

I was reminded of the festival today when I read that the Chinese families of Chinese passengers aboard Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 are still hopeful.

Tomb Sweeping Day is also known as the Qing Ming Festival 清明节, literally Clear Bright Festival [Read more…] about Tomb Sweeping Day

Be Safe: The Story Of Fred And Jim

February 22, 2014 By Ben Williams 7 Comments

Note: The writer of this post is 13 years old.

Today’s post isn’t going to be a coherent one, but – as you guessed, a rant. But it’s a rant I’m sure everyone can agree with, especially drivers.

As I can’t drive, I don’t know many problems about driving and silly motorists, [Read more…] about Be Safe: The Story Of Fred And Jim

Short Walk By Itchen

February 19, 2014 By Mike Sedgwick 17 Comments

Edward Mike Sedgwick (Glider)

Had a short walk by the Itchen today. Joined it behind the Travelodge on Twyford Road and walked downstream to Withymead Lock where a fallen tree blocks the path and the path itself disappears beneath the water.

Upstream as far as a railway bridge near Highbridge Road. [Read more…] about Short Walk By Itchen

Ramalley Cemetery: Entrance Cleared; Free Logs

February 18, 2014 By Janet Williams 1 Comment

Yesterday I told you a huge tree fell and blocked the entrance to Ramalley Cemetery.

I also informed Eastleigh Borough Council about what I saw.

This afternoon, I found the tree had been removed, and you get free logs too: [Read more…] about Ramalley Cemetery: Entrance Cleared; Free Logs

Huge Fallen Tree Blocks Ramalley Cemetery

February 17, 2014 By Janet Williams 3 Comments

This afternoon, we saw a huge fallen tree blocking the entrance to Ramalley Cemetery.

If you are of medium build, you could still squeeze into the cemetery through a narrow gap at the gate. However, if you are not very mobile, or you are a wheelchair user, at the moment, it is impossible to get into Ramalley Cemetery. [Read more…] about Huge Fallen Tree Blocks Ramalley Cemetery

Rain and Hail in Chandler’s Ford

January 6, 2014 By Janet Williams Leave a Comment

The heavens were hurling down hail stones this afternoon in Chandler’s Ford.

Comparing with the rest of the country, we are quite lucky with the weather.

I took a few pictures of Hursley Road this afternoon: [Read more…] about Rain and Hail in Chandler’s Ford
