Ant Gardiner: New Scouts District Commissioner

April 27, 2014 By Janet Williams 5 Comments

I spoke to Ant Gardiner this afternoon before the Chandler’s Ford St. George’s Day Parade started.

Ant is only 38 years old. He is now the new District Commissioner of the Chandler’s Ford District Scouts, leading about 700 youngsters in Chandler’s Ford. Ant replaced Carolyn Darbyshire MBE, who took charge since 1999 and has built a successful team in Chandler’s Ford.

Ant was born in Germany as his father served in the Royal Air Force. In his teenage years, Ant grew up in Bournemouth and he moved to Chandler’s Ford 15 years ago.

It’s an extraordinary day for Ant not only because he is now at the helm of this thriving scout district in Chandler’s Ford. Today five of his seven children were also in the parade with him. He is a proud dad.

Ant Gardiner now leads Chandler's Ford Scouts District.

Next year, Ant will be taking a group of 10 Scouts/Explorers from the Chandler’s Ford District, to take part in the World Scout Jamboree in Japan in 2015. You can check out their fundraising progress on their website.

Congratulations to Ant Gardiner!
