No More Parking Restrictions at Fryern Arcade

July 19, 2018 By SO53 News 6 Comments

Are you aware that the parking restrictions at the Fryern Arcade have been lifted? Since the 22nd of June this year, there are no further parking restrictions at the Fryern Arcade.

There are no longer operating cameras on site.

This means that you can now park at the Fryern Arcade car park for more than 3 hours.

In 2015 we told residents that if you visit the Fryern Arcade in Chandler’s Ford, you could park for only 3 hours for free.

CBGA Robson, managing agents based in London, looks after the shopping precinct at Fryern Arcade, Chandlers Ford on behalf of the landlord.

Peter Bellman, of CBGA Robson, said parking restrictions were introduced to the car-parking areas some years ago, to prevent people working locally from parking all day and taking spaces away from shoppers and visitors to the precinct.

Complaints

There has been substantial protests against the parking arrangements through various on-line Forums, including complaints against potentially unjustified Penalty Charge Notices.

The retailers themselves have also expressed a co-ordinated view that the parking restrictions were affecting their trading, and customers were reluctant to chance a visit, for fear of receiving a PCN.

Parking restrictions were removed

Mr Bellman said, “The parking restrictions were removed on the 22nd of June. It is very much hoped that retailing will reap the benefit and trade will return to normal.

There will be monitoring but only to inhibit long-term parking from non-shoppers who still have the opportunity to find all day parking in close proximity.”

The car park behind Co-op: still ONE hour

However, residents need to be mindful that the One Hour parking rule at the Co-op car park is still in place. You can only park for One Hour there.

Superb news. Hopefully people are all sensible (and don’t park there all day and then go to other cities).

That is if you can manage the journey through Chandlers Ford to the Arcade given the volume of traffic.

      Christine,

Since 2015, there was a 3-hour restriction (and a no return policy), and some people had been fined.

Glad to see the resetrictions have been lifted – hopefull this will boost local businesses.

I’m delighted to hear this but cross that I was one of the people who received a PCN from this parking scheme. I pointed out to the retailers and management company at the time that this enforcement would effect business. I’ve a good mind to ask for my money back.
