The Last Chandler’s Ford Community Produce and Craft Market on Saturday 13th December 2025

Ten years ago, Steve Allen set up the Chandler’s Ford Community Produce and Craft Market. Several times a year he runs the market at the Brownhill Community Centre. Lots of people love going to the market, chatting, browsing, and buying, and getting to know our neighbours and local makers and crafters.

Unfortunately this will be the last Chandler’s Ford Community Produce and Craft market, and Steve has decided to close the market after this year.

The last market day will be on Saturday, 13th December, from 10am to 1pm, at Brownhill Community Centre (next to Co-op) and there’ll be Christmas gifts for friends and families.

Chandler’s Ford Community Produce and Craft Indoor Market – Christmas 2024

Chandler’s Ford Community Produce & Craft Market will be back next Saturday 14th December from 10am till 1pm at Brownhill Community Centre, behind the Co-op Fryern Arcade.

Don’t miss the chance to buy special Christmas gifts made by local people.

Last week (7 December 2024) Eastleigh Mayor Councillor Dave Pragnell and Mayoress Jean both came to support the Chandler’s Ford market. Despite the awful weather, the market still attracted lots of people.

The market was started by myself and my wife in October 2015. The reason for opening a market in Chandler’s Ford was firstly to provide a outlet for local crafters and producers to sell their wares. Secondly we were appalled by the cost of other markets stall fees.

Chandler’s Ford Christmas Market day is tomorrow – Saturday the 4th of December, at the Age Concern Hall, next to Fryern Arcade, (behind Co-Op), from 10am to 1pm. Well done for Steve Allen for organising the local market in the past few years.

No More Parking Restrictions at Fryern Arcade

Are you aware that the parking restrictions at the Fryern Arcade have been lifted? Since the 22nd of June this year, there are no further parking restrictions at the Fryern Arcade.

There are no longer operating cameras on site.

On the face of it, times have not been good recently at Fryern. Grovers the Butchers has closed as has our branch of the Nat West. I’m always sorry to see an independent firm go, some history goes with them I feel, but, to my mind, the bank branch closure is a stupid decision. It’s not as if the bank wasn’t busy! Writers Getting Out and About: Book Fair 2017

It is one of those oddities where writers, so often renowned for leading a solitary life chained to their desks scribbling away for all their worth, also know they have to “put themselves out there” and spread the word about their writing. Well they do if they want any sales!

Some writers take to the spreading the word idea readily and get right into the spirit of things by taking along props. I know a crime writer who takes a noose to her events – and you should see what is on her tablecloth. Let’s just say it wouldn’t pass the old Daz advert for being “whiter than white”! New Discoveries and Finding Inspiration in Chandler’s Ford

It’s another very welcome bank holiday weekend and for many of us there will be more time to relax, catch up with friends or indulging in a creative pastime. As someone whose artistic attempts are, at best, minimal, I do find it interesting to hear how others find the inspiration or ‘spark’ that leads them to put pen to paper (or should that be fingers to keyboard?) to write a play or book, or to pick up brush and oils to paint a picture. Yesterday, following recommendations on Chandler’s Ford Today, my husband and I visited this small but interesting local market held in the Age Concern hall at the top of Brownhill Road.
