Urgent: Chandler’s Ford Residents: Will You Help Save the Fryern Hill Post Office?

October 19, 2019 By SO53 News 9 Comments

Aaron Joseph, the Fryern Hill Post Office manager, told Chandler’s Ford Today that Post Office Ltd has decided to close the post office down.

It’s happening on the 23rd of October. They are also taking away the computers, which will make it impossible to re-open any time soon.

The local branch management only found out the news two days ago.

There is a notice in the window asking for local support.

“You can prevent it closing by making your objections known to the post office.”

Given that this is the busiest Post Office desk in Chandler’s Ford I fail to see their logic here.

I suspect there are other factors at play here…

I’m very sorry to hear this. As a post office is vital at the arcade. On reflection I have used this service and found it slow, big queues and negative staff . . . .As we know the post office service is changing. . . . .but a happy smile always helps ? . .

The closure will be causing hardship, particularly for the elderly and disabled. I find this branch very convenient especially as there is disabled parking nearby. There is often a queue so it is obviously necessary to have a Post Office here.

I agree with you Barbara – the impact on the local residents, especially the elderly and disabled, will be huge. Bank branches have closed in recent years and the Post Office is closing – it’s just not right for Chandler’s Ford.

I wonder if Post Office will re-consider its decision?

I’ve sent a long message to the Post Office – this decision is madness

I am happy to write a letter. This service is vital to the central shopping area of Chandler’s Ford.

I wonder if they will relocate to Co-Op as they have done at Baddesley and Velmore?

Please do not close this post office. That will be about the third gone in chandlers Ford and the over 70’s are finding it impossible to survive. Please reconsider

      Sue,

Thanks – please contact the Post Office directly – they need to hear our voice.
