Meet the author Brenda H. Sedgwick
Fancy meeting a local author?
To celebrate World Book Day, you could meet Brenda H. Sedgwick from Hiltingbury at Chandler’s Ford Library, on Thursday 3rd March, from 2pm to 3pm.
Brenda Sedgwick published her debut novel, Marriage, a Journey, and a Dog, in 2014.

Chandler’s Ford Art Group
For art, Chandler’s Ford Art Group invites you to see Alison Board demonstrating animals in ink, on Wednesday 24th February 2016 at 7.30pm.
For theatre lovers, you are spoilt this spring.
MDG Players: Sudden Death at Thornbury Manor
MDG Players present Sudden Death at Thornbury Manor, from 17th – 19th March 2016 7.30pm at Methodist Church Hall.
Mike Standing from MDG Players explained that Sudden Death at Thornbury Manor is a ‘Murder Mystery’ evening, performed in the style of an old-fashioned radio play in front of microphones.
All the cast (10) are on stage the whole time and read from their scripts. Two sound effects technicians are also stage in full view of the audience.
At various intervals, the audience will enjoy a ‘Ploughman’s’ supper, dessert and coffee, before being asked to name the Murderer.
Chameleon Theatre Company: The Pocket Dream
On Hursley Road, Chameleon Theatre Company presents The Pocket Dream, from Thurs 28 – Sat 30 April.
This uproarious comedy by Brewer and Sandy Toksvig is a retelling of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Lovers, Rude Mechanicals and Fairies are jumbled up, shaken about and dropped from a great height to give you a show of great surprises.
The director is Matthew Meehan, who played Professor Marcus in The Ladykillers.

Any of the CF Today contributors interested in forming a team for the Curry and Quiz night?
Richard Hardie says
Good idea, Chippy. I’m up for it!

Hi all, would be great to meet you all there…I am in a team already and would love to see you there. It is a fun and varied quiz so you do not have to be a mastermind…book direct with Concorde and let them know how many in your team and a team name…and if any vegetarian options required (usually a stroganoff)
Come on Janet too, you can do it…
7.30 pm for an 8 pm start…food around 9 pm and finishes about 10.45pm…and a raffle too.

Ray – we will be “Chandler’s Ford Today”.
Wendy Blackman says
I am not great at quizzes either – but sounds like it should be fun – put me down for it too.

Looks like we’ve got enough for a team – me, Richard, Wendy, Janet (to be confirmed but she hasn’t come up with a good excuse not to yet). We can probably fill the other places too.
I’ll book it up in the next couple of days. If anyone has a food preference, let me know otherwise it will be meat curry for everyone 🙂
Janet Williams says
Janet’s excuses: 1) Janet’s wondering if she could cope with hunger between 7-9pm. 2) Social life during week day till 10.45? Unheard of these days.
The last time I joined a quiz night, I only managed one question out of about 500 (it felt like 500 questions, or possibly 1,000). The memorable question was: What’s the place named Formosa? Of course I knew the answer, I spent 6 years there! The rest of the questions involve football (something like who replaced Alex Ferguson), golf, rugby TV dramas, celebrities, how river / train runs from A to B……) I almost felt asleep.
To stand a chance of ‘winning’, we need to have people who are good at trivial, useless stuff. I have faith in Chippy.
Janet Williams says
Mm…Mr Sedgwick has been unusually quiet so far.
Ray Fishman says
Brilliant….let me know your team name and I will seek you out on the night…Ray
