While walking to work the other day, I saw a new sign at the Chandler’s Ford Central Precinct.
(I know. I also discovered the Chandler’s Ford Vicarage has just changed its sign too.)
The New Sign
The new sign was placed just outside the HSBC bank at the entrance to the car park.
I’m sure you would still remember the commotion in Chandler’s Ford when an armed bank robbery was foiled on 13 September 2007 by the police, at the Central Precinct. BBC later reported that the Chandler’s Ford robbers were lawfully killed by the Metropolitan Police.
The new sign is a silver plate, featuring Ahmad Tea London, Chandler’s Ford Snooker Club, and Racecentre, with the Private Car Park and warning signs at the bottom.
The Old Sign
A few months ago, I took a picture of this old sign at the Central Precinct, never realising that this sign would become history so soon.
You would have noticed that at the bottom on this old sign, there was a sign for Florist, in Precinct – For You printed in bright yellow and pink against a dark brown board.
In May this year, I wrote a blog post called Everything Flowers (Love Flowers) from the Central Precinct after interviewing the florist’s manager Dawn and her Polish trainee Irena. However, the florist closed its business in the Central Precinct in August this year.
I’m very pleased that I recorded the history of the florist in the Central Precinct before its closure. The florist in the Central Precinct had a history of over 30 years, with names from Adies to Everything Flowers to Love Flowers.
