In Chandler’s Ford: some shops have closed; some have opened. Some are about to open.

Here are a few photos for you to see some changes in Chandler’s Ford, focusing on Hursley Road, the Central Precinct, Fryern Arcade, Winchester Road, and Oakmount Road.

There has been a Kumon study centre based at St. Boniface Church for years. Is this a new one? Or is the Kuman centre moving to the Central Precinct?

My, how it has all changed since 1966 !!! … where exactly in Hursley Road is the Hursley Cafe, as I do not recognise that row of shops at all … the only ‘unchanged’ thing, apart from ownership (it was Mick Horn in my day and Eydman’s before that), is the butcher’s shop on the parade.
    Keep smiling all.

These shops are diagonally opposite to Monks Brook pub. There is a row of shops there, next to the Co-op, by the water.

Thanks for that Janet … built since my time and, I guess, where the Garage used to be, near the ‘new’ co-op, between the station and what was Dean’s … how it has all changed, but I think I would still know my way around, even after 51 years !

The old Kumon study centre based at St. Boniface Church has indeed moved to the Central Precinct.

Paul, thanks for the information. This seems like a great location for learning.
