German Student Seeking Host Family

May 13, 2015 By SO53 News Leave a Comment

A German student is seeking a host family. Are you able to help?

Eastleigh Lions twinned with German Kornwestheim Lions Club in 1995. Both towns are twinned as well.

The towns and the Lions Clubs enjoy a good cultural and social exchanges. The Lions Clubs also carry out joint projects over the many years.

Eastleigh Lions had a request from the twin town to find a host family for a student called Lara, who has enrolled at Barton Peveril Sixth Form College for the academic year 2015/16.

Lara’s studies are sponsored by the Kornwestheim City and her parents are able to contribute towards her accommodation and meals cost.

If you could help, please e-mail Devan Kandiah with your contact number, or call 07771 614 909.

About Lara from Germany

Lara
“Hello, my name is Lara, I am 15 years old and I am visiting class 10 at Goethe-Gymnasium in Ludwigsburg. I live in Kornwestheim, which is the twin town of Eastleigh.

For a very long time it is my major wish to spend one year in England between class 10 and 11. I would like to visit a College there. I want to spend the year abroad from August 2015 until July 2016.

It would be a great experience to dive into a different culture and to learn English fluently!

I was in London in March this year for one week as a part of a school exchange and I loved the people, the language and the country! I will be glad to see more from this beautiful country!

Now I would like to tell you something about my hobbies and interests. I started playing the recorder when I was 6 years old. In the meantime I play five different recorders at the music school two times a week in an ensemble and I am a member of a quintet called Misasolata. I enjoy riding horses; four times a week I spend my free time in the local riding club, where I look after a horse named Züsi.

My other hobbies are reading books, taking photos, meeting friends and playing with our cat Sheila. At school my favourite subjects are Music, English, social studies and German.

My brother Liam is 11 years old and loves riding his BMX-bicycle and playing saxophone. My parents Simone and Heinz like to go for walks, going to the cinema and meeting friends.

I would be happy to live in a host family, because I think this is the best possibility to learn all about the English culture.

To enable my dream I search for a nice host family, who is looking forward to have an additional family member for one year.”
