The Arcade Youth Theatre: Peter Pan by J.M Barrie; 28th – 29th July 2017

June 30, 2017 By SO53 News Leave a Comment

Following the astounding success of The Arcade Youth Theatre’s first production, ‘Alice’ by Laura Wade, last year, which raised over £800 for the company, they will be taking to the stage again in the classic children’s tale, ‘Peter Pan’ by J.M Barrie.

With breathtaking flying sequences, intense fight scenes, and dazzling light dances, this show is stepping up to be their best yet! All of the creative direction has come from a collaboration with the cast, design crew and their 17 year old director and founder, Lewis Pickles.

‘Working on this production has shown me just how incredibly talented this team of young people are! They have been dedicated and open to new ideas throughout the whole process and bounced back when things became difficult. It is amazing to see.’ says Lewis during a preview night of a couple of scenes they held in April.

The company decided to invite professional actor, William Jones, published writer, Peter Yates, and director for Chameleons, Geoff Dodsworth, to come and watch acts one and two of the five act play and give their comments and suggestions.

Each member of the cast gave this preview their everything and shone like the stars that they are. ‘It is so refreshing to see so much enthusiasm for drama in one room’ commented Geoff at the end of the night. There was much praise from the professionals and their critical comments served as an excellent springboard into making the show even better!

AYT was founded in February 2015, with only one member attending their first meeting. Now, the youth theatre is home to over 15 members and gives young people a place to express their creativity in a safe environment with like minded individuals. All whilst being the only youth theatre in Hampshire with free membership.

If you would like to support local talent and come along to enjoy a magical show, join Peter, Wendy and Tinkerbell in their quest to fight Captain Hook and learn what it means to become an adult. Tickets are only £6 and can be ordered on our website Arcade Youth Theatre. Book your tickets soon and reserve the best place using the all new venue map.

We perform and rehearse at the forever helpful Dovetail Centre at Chandler’s Ford Methodist Church as a non-religious community organisation. The community work they do is fantastic and a donation taken from our proceeds will be given to help them fund more local community groups in the future.
