The Arcade Youth Theatre Hits the Stage for the First Time

July 22, 2016 By SO53 News Leave a Comment

The Arcade Youth Theatre hits the stage for the first time this week!

Arcade Youth Theatre is a new, local youth theatre, which has begun its journey into bringing drama and arts to young people and the community of Chandler’s Ford and the surrounding areas.

The Arcade Youth Theatre is a drama group run for young people, by young people and they will be putting on their very first show ‘Alice’ by Laura Wade.

Alice Youth Theatre presents Alice, at Chandler's Ford Dovetail Centre.

It is a modern adaptation on Lewis Carroll’s Classic Tale Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Alice Through The Looking Glass. All of your favourite wonderland characters will be there, albeit with a little twist – A motor cyclist white rabbit, for example. Alice must use her time in Wonderland to come to terms with the tragic loss of her sister, Jo. Join her in her journey and remember what life is truly about.

Despite its solemn undertones, Alice is a hilarious take on the traditional story with many jokes and lots of wit. There is very mild language occasionally, but is suitable for a family audience whereby all ages can enjoy the hilarity.

All of the cast are pupils from local schools, with the company’s founder and director Lewis Pickles being only 16 years old himself. This is a wonderful chance to support the young people of our community enriching their creativity, confidence, and teamwork, whilst gaining valuable experience on stage that they may take back to their drama lessons and into their futures.
