Inspiring Artists from the Sorting Office Studios Eastleigh

February 15, 2015 By Janet Williams 3 Comments

Meeting the inspiring artists from the Sorting Office Studios from Eastleigh.

Chandler’s Ford Library provides us with books, music, and films, and yesterday, the library also brought us the most talented artists from The Sorting Office Studios in Eastleigh.

I’ve been following the artists around Eastleigh since last year and it was very lovely to see some of them again in Chandler’s Ford Library.

Residents of the Sorting Office Studios met the public [Read more…] about Inspiring Artists from the Sorting Office Studios Eastleigh

Merry Christmas: From Good Neighbours Brian And Suzette Matthews

December 25, 2014 By Janet Williams 1 Comment

Suzette and Brian Matthews miss the people and friends in Chandler's Ford.

Do you remember The Precinct Gift Centre?

I miss this little gift shop very much.

The Precinct Gift Centre was loved by many. It held many local people’s childhood memories.

It was my favourite gift shop. Sadly, the shop closed in February 2006 after 16 years [Read more…] about Merry Christmas: From Good Neighbours Brian And Suzette Matthews

2014 Eastleigh Christmas Lights Switch on: Snow Has Fallen

November 23, 2014 By chippy minton 19 Comments

The first snow of winter fell in Eastleigh town centre yesterday. What, you missed it? You can’t have been in the right place at the right time.

I have to admit to being a bit of a Grinch when it comes to starting Christmas festivities too early.

If I could get away with it (and I rarely can) decorations wouldn’t go up until Christmas Eve [Read more…] about 2014 Eastleigh Christmas Lights Switch on: Snow Has Fallen

September 14, 2014 By Janet Williams 16 Comments

Mike and Fin

I went to Hiltingbury Extravaganza this afternoon with my teenage son. It was a beautiful day. Hiltingbury was buzzing with excitement.

I took some photos to show you some interesting people and stalls that I saw today.

Self-Employment In Sri Lanka

June 29, 2014 By Mike Sedgwick 4 Comments

While in Sri Lanka, quite by chance we came across a party of ex-pats calling themselves the ‘Discovery’ group. They meet once a month and go off to explore a hidden part of Sri Lanka. Hidden to tourists and even most Sri Lankans that is.

Today a convoy of 6 vehicles left Kandy for the south and we soon turned off the main road to an un-named village in the jungle.

The Picture Framing Shop: Meet Teddy The Shop Dog

June 6, 2014 By Janet Williams 2 Comments

Yesterday Niki Jenkins from The Picture Framing Shop in Chandler’s Ford left a beautiful comment on a post I wrote five months ago.

She also sent me pictures of Teddy, their lovely shop dog, who is renowned and well-cuddled in Hiltingbury.

Going Bananas Fairtrade Fashion Show: March 8

February 26, 2014 By Hazel Bateman 5 Comments

More than 30 years ago, I visited a World Development Movement meeting and saw a film about the way multi-national companies operate around the world. It prompted me to start a Traidcraft stall at my church in Ruislip Manor.

In Chandler’s Ford, I assisted Louise before and now assist Janet with her Traidcraft stall at St. Boniface Church.

We can often feel helpless when [Read more…] about Going Bananas Fairtrade Fashion Show: March 8

The Picture Framing Shop: A Real Aladdin’s Cave

January 8, 2014 By Janet Williams 3 Comments

In my last post, I highlighted the magical Picture Framing Shop in Chandler’s Ford. My reader Ruby echoed my view and she described the shop as a real Aladdin’s cave.

This is a fitting description in praise of The Picture Framing Shop in Chandler’s Ford.

The Magical Picture Framing Shop in Chandler’s Ford

January 7, 2014 By Janet Williams 9 Comments

My son and I walked for 35 minutes to get to The Picture Framing Shop in Chandler’s Ford last week.

The walk in the cold weather was worth it as we bought everything we needed for my son’s major art project for a mask.

The young and energetic owner [Read more…] about The Magical Picture Framing Shop in Chandler’s Ford
