Year of the Tiger – Celebrating Friendship

January 31, 2022 By Janet Williams 4 Comments

For those of you who celebrate Chinese New Year, I wish you good luck, happiness and health in the New Year.

In the past two weeks I had afternoon tea with Allison Symes, had coffee with Mike Sedgwick at Dovetail Cafe, and on Saturday, I had a Chinese New Year meal with chippy minton and his wife Annie in Eastleigh. Of course I also saw chippy’s unique gnome in his front garden.

Isn’t it wonderful seeing friends again in person, going for a walk, having a drink or two? All of us have been through a tough two years, and let’s hope this year brings us hope and happiness. Are you planning to spend more time with friends and families this year? Chippy said rightly that we didn’t have to wait for a specific festival to meet up, as friends we should just meet up, have a drink, go for a run (the chippy household is very keen on  parkrun). When we were at Chippy’s, we had Chinese food whilst listening to songs from the 70s and 80s. I couldn’t remember some of the songs. But they were lovely.

I’ll try to be there – as long as it’s not too cold!

    Oh, Chippy – that’s masochism.
How does your time compare with the first one?

Funny you should ask, Mike, as I was checking this the other day. My first run was 32:02 and I was153th out of 199. Last week it was 23:55 and I was 26th out of 206.
It’s taken me almost seven years to reach 250 – though that does include 1.25 years of covid restrictions with no parkrun.
