At 6.30 pm on Sunday 27 November 2016, St. Boniface Church Choir will be leading a special service of music and readings for Advent Sunday.
Advent Sunday is the first Sunday in the church’s year, and the beginning of the lead-up to Christmas.
The service is called ‘The Light and Peace of Jesus Christ’ and includes well-known hymns for the pre-Christmas season, such as ‘O Come, Emmanuel’ and ‘Lo, he comes with clouds descending’. (This is why the service is sometimes referred to as ‘Advent Carols’.)
The choir will sing three pieces – including the fine anthem ‘O thou, the central Orb of Righteous Love’ by Charles Wood (a composer born 150 years ago this year).
If you’ve been to this service before, do come again – it’s a fine start to our preparations for Christmas. If you haven’t been to it before, why not try it this time?
Address: St. Boniface Church: Hursley Road, Chandler’s Ford SO53 2FT
