The 14th Eastleigh Scout and Guide Band (“The Spitfires”) had a busy day taking part in three St George’s Day Parades today.

They started at 10:00 in Eastleigh, and 12:45 in Winchester, then 14:30 in Chandler’s Ford. Emma Thompson, Media Officer and Deputy Drum Major from the Band said they would like to thank everyone who turned out to support each event.

Emma said, the atmosphere at the Chandler’s Ford Parade was brilliant with spectators cheering and clapping along. The Band played some of their favourite marches, including Holyrood, H.M. Jollies, and Silver Bugles.

There are over 40 members of the band, and 25 members took part in today’s parades today. Emma said, “We’re always recruiting, and have both the Main Band and a Training Band for those just starting out / learning called “The Merlins”.

Some members are quite young, from around the age of 8. The Director of Music is Greg Walker.
