Alfie Dog Fiction Competition

May 8, 2015 By Allison Symes Leave a Comment

Calling all writers in and around Chandler’s Ford with details of a fiction competition!

I have sent in details of the latest Short Story competition Alfie Dog Fiction is advertising.

You can find out some of my short stories in my Fairytales with Bite website.

The competition aims to help Alfie Dog authors by giving another opportunity to have work published and, uniquely, the entry fee is to download five short stories by different Alfie Dog authors.

Most stories come at a mere £0.39 price tag and in total these five stories would cost much less than most entry fees for short story competitions.

The competition prize is £200 and publication of the winning author’s short story collection (with editorial support for completion if necessary).

The book will be in ebook and paperback formats. The author will receive 5 complimentary copies and will receive royalties on all further sales.

Individual writers and writing groups are all welcome to enter the competition.

The closing date is 30th September 2015. Full details can be found at Alfie Dog Fiction – Writing Competition.

Story length should be between 1000 and 2000 words.

About Allison Symes

I'm a published flash fiction and short story writer, as well as a blogger. My fiction work has appeared in anthologies from Cafelit and Bridge House Publishing.

My first flash fiction collection, From Light to Dark and Back Again, was published by Chapeltown Books in 2017.

My follow-up, Tripping the Flash Fantastic, was published by Chapeltown Books in 2020.

I adore the works of many authors but my favourites are Jane Austen, P.G. Wodehouse and Terry Pratchett.

I like to describe my fiction as fairytales with bite.

I also write for Writers' Narrative magazine and am one of their editors. I am a freelance editor separately and have had many short stories published online and in anthologies.
