Chandler’s Ford Today received 121,887 views from January to December in 2015.
Visitors numbers were 66,478.
319 posts were published in 2015.
The monthly data is shown here. For example, in December, we had 5,416 visitors, with 10,557 views in total.
(Confused? According to WordPress.com, the two main units of traffic measurement are views and unique visitors. A view is counted when a visitor loads or reloads a page. A visitor is counted when a user or browser is seen for the first time in a given period (day, week, month).)
The graph shows the site stays stable throughout the year, with a dip in the summer. (I was away from the country for 6 weeks, and we published scheduled posts – great thanks to Mike and Allison for maintaining the site.)
In 2014, the graph was different:
Chandler’s Ford Today Referrers
The referrers section lists other blogs, web sites, and search engines that link to Chandler’s Ford Today.
Most traffic came from: search engines, Facebook, Twitter, local Chameleon Theatre Company, Wikipedia (via Ahmad Tea), and email.
Referrers also included the publisher Alfie Dog, independent hyperlocal Eastleigh News, and Allison Symes via her websites, Fairytales with Bite and This World and Others.
Where are visitors from?
Unsurprisingly, most views came from the UK – 107,647 views in 2015.
There were 5,321 views from the US, followed by Australia with 861 views.
I’m not sure why there is a ‘European Union’ count with 689 views. What does EU mean here? Why is France not included in the EU stats? We had 609 views from France.
The most popular search engine terms in 2015
The most popular search engine terms are all about Streetlife. Streetlife is a rather popular local community networking site, and I wrote a positive review in June 2014.
Occasionally we get some interesting search terms, such as ‘Chandler’s Ford Southampton wife swapping’ in December.
Clicks
This stat counts the number of times our readers have clicked on external links that appear on Chandler’s Ford Today.
In 2015, we sent a lot of traffic to Streetlife, Thornden Hall, Cats and Kittens rescue of Chandler’s Ford, Hiltingbury Community Centre (The Hilt), Xelabus, and all political parties.
Not a surprise as we reported Winchester 2015 General Election (with result and video clips).
The most read posts and pages in 2015:
If we ignore the static pages (such as Home, Archives, Map, Groups), the most read posts were information-based:
- Why Joining Streetlife is Good for You
- 999, 111, 101, 112? Emergency Numbers You Must Know
- Fryern Arcade WH Smith Local and Post Office Open
- Fryern Arcade Post Office: Open 7 Days a Week?
- Montgomery of Alamein School in Winchester: Astonishing Historical Pictures Revealed
- New – Tropic Exotics in Eastleigh Town Centre
(Note: A view is only counted for a post or page when the permalink URL is visited, or the full post is viewed. On the other hand, if a visitor reads a post titled “Hello World” while viewing the home page of the blog, the view will not be counted towards the post, only towards total views.)

Active commenters in 2015 are me (Janet), Mike, Allison, and Ruby.
There are also some trivial info. This chart shows the time of day and day of the week this site gets the most views. Tuesday at 9pm. Why? I have absolutely no idea.

Great work here, Janet. Very useful breakdown. Time to get the old pen/PC out for CFT again then!
Get the new pen out from Australia from me!
Also, do you blog on your writing software? Do you use Scrivener? If so, how is it? I’ve been thinking of getting one. Let me know the software you use. Thanks.
A big ‘THANK YOU’ Janet for doing this for the community. You deserve a medal.
What are we going to be writing about next year? Floods, Foods, Famine, Forests and Friendships? And that is only starting in the middle of the alphabet.
Janet

An excellent website magazine…. excellently run!
Strange that Tuesday at 9.00pm is is CFT gets its most hits! I wonder what we’re all doing, or rather NOT doing!
How starnge. I’ve tried to post a comment and it says it’s a duplicate and can’t be posted. It’s definitely not!
Hi Richard,
If it is the same comment as in this previous one, then WordPress will ignore it. Could you enter your comment again if it is a new one? Thanks.
Hi,
An excellent online magazine with far more than just local interest. Interesting about Tuesday at 9.00pm being peak viewing! I wonder what we’re doing at that time the rest of the week?
All the best for the New Year to everyone.
Richard
I’ve just checked WordPress forums, and found an answer about a country called “European Union” in my stats.
WordPress explained that “This just means that our geolocation service believes the user is in the European Union, but they can’t pinpoint exactly what country. Not trying to intentionally hide any countries on your stats page!”
Thank you Janet, for all your efforts in making this such an interesting site.
It is a pleasure to contribute, allbeit in a very small way.
Martin,
You’ve contributed in a BIG way, and you’ve shared your stories to the wider community. We’re looking forward to more of your stories in the new year.
It’s amazing how we chatted over a cup of tea one morning at Dovetail Centre and now you’re one of our top authors! Thank you.
All the best to you.
