2014 Eastleigh Christmas Lights Switch on: Snow Has Fallen

November 23, 2014 By chippy minton 19 Comments

The first snow of winter fell in Eastleigh town centre yesterday. What, you missed it? You can’t have been in the right place at the right time.

I have to admit to being a bit of a Grinch when it comes to starting Christmas festivities too early.

If I could get away with it (and I rarely can) decorations wouldn’t go up until Christmas Eve [Read more…] about 2014 Eastleigh Christmas Lights Switch on: Snow Has Fallen

The Guild of Church Musicians

May 8, 2014 By Hugh Benham 6 Comments

Hugh Benham, Honorary Fellow of the Guild of Church Musicians.

Last weekend it was my privilege and pleasure to visit Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk for the annual conference and AGM of the Guild of Church Musicians, and particularly so as the Guild was making me one of several new honorary fellows (Hon. FGCM for short).

About 150 honorary fellowships have been awarded in the past 25 years or so, some to clergy (including Archbishop Desmond Tutu) [Read more…] about The Guild of Church Musicians

Wedding of Chandler’s Ford Girl

April 15, 2014 By Mike Sedgwick 3 Comments

The bride Rowan Esther Catherine was given away by her father, Hugh Cameron of Chandler’s Ford.

On Saturday 12th April 2014 Chandler’s Ford born and bred Rowan Esther Catherine Cameron wed Robbie Stewart Weir at Weetwood Hall in Leeds. With names Cameron and Weir it was no surprise to see guests turning up in highland dress with kilts, black barathea jackets with silver buttons, sporrans and ghillies on the feet.

Modern political correctness meant that the sgian-dubh was not worn but [Read more…] about Wedding of Chandler’s Ford Girl

Carolyn Darbyshire MBE

1999 saw me start in post as District Commissioner for Chandler’s Ford District and was the start of some memorable years.

I had been in Scouting then for 15 years at the 2nd Ramalley Group and when offered the post of District Commissioner I realised that my close contact with the young people was going to change. [Read more…] about What A Wonderful Time I Have Had!
