The Unique Madding Crowd Concerts

The Madding Crowd is a performing group which researches and performs the church and secular music of the English village bands and choirs in the period 1660 to 1861.

The group was founded in 1975.

The Madding Crowd’s next concert is on Friday 12th December at 8 pm in Chandler’s Ford Methodist Church. The concert is in aid of St Anne’s Hospital in Liuli, Tanzania.

The Liuli hospital is also supported by the Parish Church of Chandler’s Ford.

This year, The Madding Crowd’s charity concert will be in aid of Winchester Basics Bank.

The concert will take place on Saturday 20th December at 7:30 pm at St. Lawrence in the Square Church, Winchester SO23 9LH.

On 4th January 2015 The Madding Crowd will be performing at Manor Farm.

About the Madding Crowd

Music from the Village Bands & Quires of the 17th to 19th centuries; Hymns & Psalms, Carols & Anthems, Songs, Dances & Marches; collected from old Manuscripts and Books “Printed for the Use of Country Choirs”; illustrated with contemporary readings, performed in costume of about 1820.
