The Chameleons: Blackadder Goes Forth – Review by Dominic Mayes

Blackadder Goes Forth, performed by Chameleon Theatre Company, went beyond all expectations. It truly brought back a classic comedy set during one of the greatest conflicts in history on the Western Front in 1917.

Blackadder Goes Forth - brilliantly performed by the Chameleons from Chandler's Ford.

The acting was superb for a local theatre production and the stage set was top notch with lots of detail and really transported you back to that period in time which gave the whole play a great atmosphere.

Most of the play was centered around Captain Blackadder’s many schemes to escape the trenches, all ending with a serious twist at the end as Blackadder and his men went over the top into No Man’s land as part of the big push. This was all cleverly portrayed in slow motion. A very enjoyable evening with an unforgettable ending.

Blackadder Goes Forth - what an unforgettable ending.

We went on the Friday – lots of laughs but very poignant great production. Well done by all the cast. Best acting was done by the slug. I can see a great future for him in further productions.

      Steve,

Indeed it was a great production. Not sure if the slug was tasty though 🙂 Great cast. First class production with a great deal of attention to details. Not wonder it evokes such a lot of emotion.
