Today’s Fryern Funtasia in Chandler’s Ford was fun, as usual, and it was very well managed. Congratulations! I heard a few children fainted due to heat, but hope they have had some rest and are now feeling better. The organisers deserve our praise – they have put in so much effort to make sure everything ran so smoothly.
It was great to see some interesting businesses there. There were also many fun activities for young children to enjoy as well. Local groups provided useful information. These included Chandler’s Ford Good Neighbours, Diabetes UK, Chandler’s Ford Stroke Support, Chandler’s Ford Community First Responders, Three Rivers Rail Partnership, One Community, Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service, Churches Together in Chandler’s Ford, Scouts, and Guides.
Children and their teachers participated in music and dancing. As usual, Simon Farrenden also led his outstanding Chandler’s Ford Boys’ Brigade Band to provide the audience with cheerful music.
I was there for about 2 hours with friends, and spent some of the time hiding in the shade, near the cafe and plant area. We had sandwiches and fruit prepared by volunteers from the Methodist Church.
It was lovely to see some ponies and beaufitul farm animals.
This year I’m particularly impressed by a small sewing business at the event. Donna Saville from WeSew and her mother were there helping children sew using a Singer sewing machine. This sort of old-fashioned Singer sewing machine is pretty nostalgic. Donna runs sewing classes for children and adults, and her classes are hugely popular.
Bike theft
In the past few weeks, many bicycles had been stolen in Chandler’s Ford and Eastleigh. It’s therefore not surprising to see a “We’re watching you” display by the police at the event.
Lovely weather for Fryern Funtasia today. Lots of people directed to @ImmobiliseCrime to register their bikes pic.twitter.com/BSOM071bmg

A very enjoyable day. We took Monty who made friends with the miniature ponies and goats. He also did a little showing off, riding a skateboard to the amusement of some of the people. We spent some time with the lady with ducks and her young dog who did a lovely performance. By coincidence we shared the Arena with her yesterday at the Lord Mayor’s Seaside Show at Southsea, Portsmouth where we performed a carting demonstration and parade with the shire horses
