From Old To New: Furniture Upholstery And Restoration In Chandler’s Ford

July 3, 2013 By Janet Williams 6 Comments

I visited Daniel Mulcahy, the owner of the furniture upholstery in the Central Precinct, in his shop in Chandler’s Ford a while ago.

Danny is an incredibly friendly and funny man. He told me fascinating stories about the Central Precinct, including what he saw on the day of the HSBC bank robbery in 2007.

Danny has been running his own business since April 1999, initially from a small workshop in Chandler’s Ford.

In January 2000, he moved to his current location in The Central Precinct. This gave him a larger workshop and an impressive shop front.

Now he has a large, mainly local, client base, as well as businesses from further afield that use him for larger jobs, such as pub renovations.

The main aspect of his business is upholstery, but Danny also undertakes furniture repairs and renovation, including French polishing, and making customised pieces of furniture. He also sells foam cut to size and fabric, either specific amounts that he orders in or remnants.

If you want a good story about the Central Precinct, or get unique refurbished furniture, you should pay Danny a visit at From Old to New. I really enjoyed my visits.
