Don’t know which business but the knitting is in Fryern Arcade because the curved staircase is instantly recognisable.

There was an Esso petrol station by the Vauxhall dealership at the corner of Bournemouth Rd and Leigh Road.

And of course the final picture was the Ashdown Arms formerly the Tabby Cat with various rhyming nicknames – not a venue that I frequented.

      Bob,

      Brilliant! 100% !

I have used the Esso petrol station for years – but haven’t had a photo of it!

A few years ago the knitters called themseles the Heavenly Knitters and I wrote about it. Chandler’s Ford centre doesn’t even have a Christmas tree (thanks to Selwood for having a decent tree each year as the landmark for Christmas in Chandler’s Ford), so these knitting will do.

      Merry Christmas to you!

          Hi Karen,

Wow!!! Please could you say a big THANK YOU to your mum and her friends. These are gorgeous! Let the ladies know that we really appreciate the beauty and surprise that they bring us.

Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Yes, I also recognised Fryern Arcade from the curved staircase.

The garage is Picador at the Leigh Road / Bournemouth road junction. It’s a Vauxhall showroom now, but used to be Rowles and British Leyland.

The petrol station closed down only a few weeks ago. I wonder whether the car showroom has expanded to compete with the enlarged Hendy’s further down the road.

I never visited the Tabby Cat, but with a nickname of Scraggy Cat you can probably guess what it’s reputation was.

I used to use this petrol station regularly. It’s a shame that now I have to go somewhere else. I don’t like the Fryern roundabout so have tried avoide using the petrol station there. Asda petrol station can give you headache. God please help us.

I walked past this delightful display in Fryern Arcade today & thought how lucky I am to be living in Chandler’s Ford, where people give up their time to make it all look festive. Well done to those responsible.

      Hi Mavis,

Very well said. The display is delightful, and it has a very personal touch as well. It’s a lovely community. Merry Christmas to you!
