Hidden away in the Chandler’s Ford Central Precinct is a Club that aims to be the place in the Chandler’s Ford area to meet up with friends, to relax and unwind, and to have some fun. It’s the Chandler’s Ford Central Club.
The regular activities include: Live Music most Saturday Nights; a Darts League on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday Nights; Bingo on Wednesday and Friday Nights; Football shown on the Big Screen and a Quiz Night on Sunday Nights.
Saturday Night is Music Night
Every Saturday there is a Live Band and occasionally a Disco. The Bands and Discos cover a wide variety of types of music from Northern Soul to Rock and Roll and from Indie Music to Party Tunes. Most popular are Jaxstax (7 piece Soul Funk Band), Hattie Jacques (8 piece band that plays Soul-Mod-Indie and Britpop Music), The Soul Catchers (10 piece soul & motown band), and Toast (plays hits from Frankie Valli through to the Rubettes). About once a month there is a Disco that plays music requested by the audience.
Special occasions iinclude: a Beer and Cider Festival about 4 times a year; Tribute Nights at 6 times a year; Christmas Kid’s Party; New Yearís Eve Night and Days Out for Ladies and Gentlemen – the Club offers activities for a wide variety of interests.
The Club facilities are primarily 1 large function room with a bar that can take in excess of 300 people, 1 lounge bar (Mauri’s Lounge named after our longest serving member), 2 snooker halls offering 5 tables between them, a pool table area and an outside seating area. Mauriís Lounge is available for hire.
Chandler’s Ford Central Club is a not for profit organisation
The Chandler’s Ford Central Club is a not for profit organisation that was established in 1920. It is one of 2,000 clubs under The Working Men’s Club And Institute Union Limited that was established June 14th 1862. The Union is a non-political federation with over two million members registered as an industrial and provident society.
The club management is run by volunteers as a Management Committee. Permanent staff are the Club Secretary, Finance Officer and the Club Steward.
The club is membership based although Non-members are welcome (a fee is charged for entry) – also, members buy drinks at a reduced price. A key benefit is when football is being shown on the Big Screen when Fosters and John Smiths are just £2.30 per pint.
The Club is open from 11am to 11pm (11:30 Fridays and Midnight on Saturdays) and 12pm to 10:30pm on Sundays.
