Cat in the Bag

July 22, 2020 By Gopi Chandroth 12 Comments

This is a true story. The illustrations are by my nephew Hari Gopinathan, a talented furniture designer and freelance illustrator Hari Gopinathan (Instagram handle).

Paul,

I owe an apology to your cat. On my evening walk yesterday, I saw him halfway to Tesco, looking lost and forlorn. An elderly couple was engaged in conversation with him. He was instantly recognisable: a mix of tabby and white with tortoise shell grey, playful kitten approaching full cathood, no collar, and slight to moderate belly. It was Sonny and he was lost.

Sliding my headphones off, I said to the couple,

“It’s my neighbour’s cat”. [Read more…] about Cat in the Bag

The Park Cat Maisie

October 8, 2015 By SO53 News 2 Comments

Chandler’s Ford resident Caroline sent us this message this evening:

“I would like to thank all the kind people who helped my cat when she was killed outside Fryern recreation park car park today (I wasn’t home at the time).

Some people may know her as The Park Cat but her name was Maisie (black cat with green eyes) and she lived next to the park.” [Read more…] about The Park Cat Maisie

Online Writing: What Do You Do to Recharge?

January 11, 2015 By Janet Williams 4 Comments

I have been writing online on WordPress for 7 years. Writing has become a habit and I don’t normally stop.

I know too well that a short break is fine, but if you take a lengthy hiatus, it’s more difficult to find the same momentum in writing again.

What happens if you find the writing goddess has suddenly withdrawn her inspiration? [Read more…] about Online Writing: What Do You Do to Recharge?

A Phone Call From RSPCA

September 26, 2014 By Janet Williams 2 Comments

Our cat Billy ran away, stole food, and got himself injured.

Now a lady from the RSPCA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) has just called me and we had a nice long chat this afternoon.

She understood that we didn’t mistreat, neglect, or abuse our cat. [Read more…] about A Phone Call From RSPCA

Shall We Rehome Our Beloved Cat?

September 23, 2014 By Janet Williams 3 Comments

Our cat Billy went missing for months. Last Friday we got a phone call from a nice lady called Bobbie and was told that Billy was badly injured. We picked Billy up from Tuscan Walk near Waitrose in Chandler’s Ford, but he soon escaped as my son returned from the Scouts later in the evening. Billy rushed out and limped all the way back to Tuscan Walk, a journey of 1.5 miles, [Read more…] about Shall We Rehome Our Beloved Cat?

The Psycology of Cats

June 12, 2014 By Ben Williams 9 Comments

Today my mum was upset because our cat Billy has caused some problems in the neighbourhood. Billy keeps running away and stealing food.

I told my mum not to be worried as cats are wild and impossible to properly train. This reminds me of a blog post I wrote 2 years ago when I was 11 years old. [Read more…] about The Psycology of Cats

When You Walk Away

April 30, 2014 By Janet Williams 8 Comments

Our cat walks away again. It is not quite right to say he disappears. We know where he hangs around in Chandler’s Ford.

The only problem is that he doesn’t want to come back. As he walks away, sometimes I feel sad and wonder if he is still mine. [Read more…] about When You Walk Away

This Tabby Cat Keeps Coming To My House

January 3, 2014 By Janet Williams 2 Comments

Whose tabby cat is this? It loves our house.

Does your cat keep going missing?

This cute small tabby cat keeps coming to our house. It took refuge this afternoon under our kitchen cupboard during the heavy rain.  This cat has a bell on its collar. [Read more…] about This Tabby Cat Keeps Coming To My House

Why Did Our Cat Cross The Road?

December 18, 2013 By Janet Williams 6 Comments

I’m wondering if my cat Billy is the most mysterious cat in Chandler’s Ford. I also need your advice.

Perhaps readers on Chandler’s Ford Today could help me find out why our cat Billy likes running away from home.

Two years ago, we adopted Billy from Helen, who runs Cat & Kitten Rescue from [Read more…] about Why Did Our Cat Cross The Road?

Helen’s Cat & Kitten Rescue In Chandler’s Ford

April 14, 2013 By Janet Williams 5 Comments

Cat & Kitten Rescue Chandler's Ford needs your support

If you are a cat lover, or if you ever adopted a cat in Chandler’s Ford, you’ll know a kind lady called Helen Farrar.

I was surprised to bump into Helen Farrar yesterday in Winchester. Helen and her lovely ladies were running a bric-and-brac stall at St Maurice’s Covert, next to Dehenhams, in aid of her Cat & Kitten Rescue in Chandler’s Ford. [Read more…] about Helen’s Cat & Kitten Rescue In Chandler’s Ford
