Richard Hardie – Author of the Temporal Detective Agency series

Richard Hardie is the YA author of Leap of Faith and Trouble With Swords. He will be talking about being an author and publisher (Authors Reach), as well as signing his books at The Farmhouse on 12th November, starting at 7.30 pm.

Richard tells me:-

a. You could always buy him a drink!

b. He will be with Antony Brown who writes cold case books.

The two writers will be talking about being writers, how they became authors, and how Richard became a publisher. Both writers have signed books available for buying.

There’s also a competition running in The Farmhouse to estimate the number of words in Leap of Faith, Richard’s first YA novel. The nearest will win a signed and dedicated copy of the book.

Antony M. Brown is a member of the Crime Writers’ Association and author of the Cold Case Jury series – gripping true crime mysteries from decades and centuries past.

Combining history with a real-life whodunit, each book reads like a fast-paced thriller, taking you back in time to see the crime dramatically re-enacted according to different theories. The evidence, presented as exhibits in a special section, is sifted and discussed. As well as revealing his view on the case, readers are invited to deliver their verdicts on what most likely happened at the Cold Case Jury website.

There are currently three books in the series, all published by Mirror Books: The Green Bicycle Mystery, Death of an Actress and Move to Murder. The fourth – Poisoned at The Priory – will be published in January 2020.

During his Murder, Mystery and History talk at the Hiltonbury Farmhouse, Antony will cover the inspiration for the series, the journey from self-publishing to signing a four-book deal with a major publisher and a brief overview of each book.

About Allison Symes

I'm a published flash fiction and short story writer, as well as a blogger. My fiction work has appeared in anthologies from Cafelit and Bridge House Publishing.

My first flash fiction collection, From Light to Dark and Back Again, was published by Chapeltown Books in 2017.

My follow-up, Tripping the Flash Fantastic, was published by Chapeltown Books in 2020.

I adore the works of many authors but my favourites are Jane Austen, P.G. Wodehouse and Terry Pratchett.

I like to describe my fiction as fairytales with bite.

I also write for Writers' Narrative magazine and am one of their editors. I am a freelance editor separately and have had many short stories published online and in anthologies.
