The Chameleons Theatre Company in Chandler’s Ford recently staged Ladies Down Under, the award-winning playwright Amanda Whittington’s follow-up to last summer’s Ladies Day.
Both plays performed to full houses every night at The Ritchie Hall in Hursley Road.
With Ladies Down Under, we served cheese ploughman suppers with wine all for just £9 per head (£8 for concessions).
The play ran from Thursday 25th to Saturday 27th of July with our traditional, free performance for an invited audience comprising the elderly residents of Chandlers Ford’s care homes as our way of giving back to the local community.

Left to Right: Nick Coleman as Shane; Glen Partridge as Jan; Mikaela Jenman as Linda; Marilyn Dunbar as Pearl; Gillian Wilkins as Shelley
After hitting the jackpot at Ladies Day, the fish-filleting foursome celebrated in style with a trip to Australia. As they travel from Hull to the Gold Coast, Uluru and the bright lights of Sydney, they embark on a journey of self-discovery.
While Shelley sees there’s more to Oz than sun-kissed beaches, Pearl finds herself with a mountain to climb. Duringtheir visit to Surfer’s Paradise on the Gold Coast they meet Shane, a beach bum who spends his life “shooting the barrels” at Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast.

It is a montage put together by one of the members and presented to Mike Morris as a memento. He directed Ladies Down Under and Ladies Day last year, and the montage lists all the characters and the names of the actors.

Chameleons Supporting the Honeypot Children’s Charity
Profits generated from ticket sales and on-the-night raffle ticket sales this year are being donated to The Honeypot Childrens’ Charity.
Their vision is for every child to make the most of their one chance at childhood.
Since 1996 Honeypot has been working to enhance the lives of vulnerable children and young carers aged 5-12 years by providing respite breaks and on-going outreach support. They give young carers a break from demanding and stressful responsibilities at home and provide a safe, nurturing environment where children at risk can develop their full potential.
