Sharing my Videos and Memories: by Syd Hutchinson from Chandler’s Ford

March 24, 2018 By SO53 News 2 Comments

By Syd Hutchinson

I have lived in Chandler’s Ford for over 30 years. I am retired now and realised when I pop my clogs, all my videos and photos would probably be deleted from the drives, so decided to share many of them on YouTube.

I created my own channel Syd Hutchinson, and have had nearly 120,000 viewings in the last 3 years. I re-edited some of our holiday videos from far-flung places and added them. It’s a shame many countries we have visited were many years ago when video quality was not so good, so many places are not included. Fast approaching 100 videos now ranging from wildlife to National Trust properties. I even have a video that was used on the Travel Channel.

Great Dorset Steam Fair 2016

The most popular video is the Great Dorset Steam Fair which I shall be videoing again later this year. There are thousands of steam engine fans all over the world that have enjoyed them.

Here is one of my latest videos:

Starlings’ Murmuration

When starlings gather together in their thousands, it is called a murmuration. Grouping together offers safety in numbers – predators such as peregrine falcons find it hard to target one bird in the middle of a hypnotising flock of thousands. They also gather to keep warm at night and to exchange information, such as good feeding areas. They gather over their roosting site, and perform their wheeling stunts before they roost for the night. This murmuration is in the south of England, filmed in January 2018.

Many thanks for sharing this, Syd. I loved the murmuration clip especially.

Thanks Alison. Several cold evenings spent squelching through the rushes. In my YouTube channel there are many other videos around the area that you may enjoy.
