Robin Hood and the Chameleons – Review by Allison Symes

February 3, 2017 By Allison Symes 5 Comments

Feature Image - Robin Hood Panto

I went to see the Chameleons’ production of the pantomime, Robin Hood, on Thursday January 26th. The production was excellent and the pantomime had all the key ingredients you’d expect.

Humour, topical jokes (at the expense of D.J. Trump Esq), songs (sung with gusto and great enjoyment) and a wonderful story. There was the “oh no we won’t” moment from the audience and the usual dressing up of women as men (though not the other way round as well here). Robin was actually a man in this production! (And played by the excellent Paul Jones who got into the traditional thigh slapping with considerable enthusiasm). [Read more…] about Robin Hood and the Chameleons – Review by Allison Symes

Review: All My Sons – Excellent Production by Chameleon Theatre Company

November 11, 2016 By Allison Symes 7 Comments

eature Image: All My Sons

I went to see All My Sons by Arthur Miller at the Chameleon Theatre Company in Hursley Road recently.

Wonderful performances, a great story and I’m glad to have discovered this play. It is also, I think, apt that this review appears on 11th November given All My Sons is set in 1947. The impact of World War Two is still red raw on grieving families (as the play makes very clear).  [Read more…] about Review: All My Sons – Excellent Production by Chameleon Theatre Company

Harry Baker the Sunshine Kid; All My Sons

October 27, 2016 By Janet Williams 2 Comments

Two brilliant shows in Chandler’s Ford are not to be missed today.

The first is from the poet Harry Baker — The Sunshine Kid, with The Underground Clown Club.

This will take place at Chandler’s Ford Methodist Church tonight – Thursday 27th October at 7pm.

Nationally praised for his clever and quick-witted lines, Harry promises an evening of great entertainment.

Review: The Pocket Dream by Chameleon Theatre Company

May 6, 2016 By Allison Symes 5 Comments

I went to see The Pocket Dream, written by Elly Brewer and Sandi Toksvig, on 30th April 2016 at The Chameleon Theatre Group based at the Ritchie Memorial Hall in Hursley Road.

Despite living in Chandler’s Ford for over 20 years, this was the first time I had managed to get to one of the Chameleons’ productions.  Many thanks to Lionel Elliot for supplying director’s notes, the cast list and some of the images of the show (which were taken by Dave Wilkins).  [Read more…] about Review: The Pocket Dream by Chameleon Theatre Company

Review: Dracula by Chameleon Theatre Company

November 1, 2015 By Janet Williams 2 Comments

What happens when an amateur theatre company needs props that they don’t have?

They ask a friends, ask a neighbour, or ask local residents.

A while ago Nick Coleman and Liz Strevens from the Chameleons Theatre Company went public to borrow a violin (for their production, The Ladykillers), and a white patio table (for their production, Relatively Speaking). [Read more…] about Review: Dracula by Chameleon Theatre Company

Another Triumph for Chameleon Theatre Company

Review of Relatively Speaking by epicduda.

This week my wife and I attended the latest offering by our local Chameleon Theatre Company. We also took along someone new to this form of entertainment as we were sure that she would be hooked as we are to this talented group.

We were not disappointed. [Read more…] about Another Triumph for Chameleon Theatre Company

Review: Relatively Speaking – Chandler’s Ford Chameleon Theatre Company

July 22, 2015 By Ben Williams 4 Comments

Review of Relatively Speaking by epicduda.

Over the past month or so I have been helping out with the Chameleon Theatre Company, after seeing several of their shows.

I learnt how to work with the lights and sound effects for the show from Lionel Elliott and Rebecca Nye. Last Sunday I saw the full dress rehearsal as I will be unable to help during the actual show due to holiday-itis. So treat this review like a film review when the film critics go to see the show early. [Read more…] about Review: Relatively Speaking – Chandler’s Ford Chameleon Theatre Company

Air Conditioning in the Ritchie Memorial Hall

May 22, 2015 By Nick Coleman 2 Comments

The Chandler’s Ford Community Association agreed at a Management Committee meeting this week to install air conditioning in the Ritchie Memorial Hall.

With several hot summers behind us coupled with full houses as a result of increasing popularity of our productions, the temperature in the Ritchie Hall was often exceeding 30 degrees Centigrade. It was also stuffy making air quality poor. [Read more…] about Air Conditioning in the Ritchie Memorial Hall

Last weekend we watched The Wizard of Oz pantomime, performed by the Chameleon Theatre Company from Chandler’s Ford.
