1) What’s the missing word on the sign?
We have erased the name of a school on this sign. Do you know the name of this school?
2) Where was this cottage, and what is there now?
3) Where is this place? If you know the place, please describe in details or share a story.
Put your answers in the comment below. Thank you.

Number 1 is Lakeside. Number 3 is a bit more difficult. Obviously a subway, but i can think of several. I’m trying to work it out from how the path leads the other side. I think it may be the one under the M3 leading down to Fleming Park from Falkland Road. Either there, or between Boyatt Wood and Peverells estate.
Number 2 I do know, but will keep quiet to let someone else have a guess. It used to be a farmhouse.

No 1. Correct! Well done!
No 3 is not difficult. Clue: I did a long walk yesterday to Winchester!

No 3 is only not difficult if you’ve been through the subway in question!
Could it be the one that goes under the Allbrook Link Road, at the M3 junction?
Janet Williams says
Ok. We walked from Winchester Road to Winchester.
After you pass Nuffield Hospital
You walk on this path
and in seconds you’ll be inside the tunnel.
I was in a rush so didn’t get a chance to see the details of the paintings inside the tunnel, but remember they were quite colourful, with lovely animals.

Have we all had enough time to guess number 2 ? … I should know, as I imagine it was there in my time, but I don’t, although it does seem vaguely familiar, so please don’t hold us in suspense Janet …

#2 is the original farmhouse for Common Barn Farm in Chestnut Avenue – latterly number 441A. The replacement farmhouse (number 441) can be seen in the background and I understand that the cottage was used for storage for a time.
To the left of the photo was a small set of industrial units – including, I think, a motor mechanic and a garden machinery store.
The building was opposite what-is-now Aldi [bonus points for knowing what company occupied that site before the retail units were built] and is now the B&Q headquarters.
