Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from Chandler’s Ford Today

December 24, 2018 By Janet Williams 10 Comments

Merry Christmas and Happy New year to all our writers, readers, contributors, and friends ……

It’s a brief message – I want to thank you all for writing, reading, commenting, and sharing our articles.

'Thank You' in many languages at Natural History Museum.

A special thank you to Rick Goater for his amazing weekly series on Sundays: Forty Years in Chandler’s Ford – a Journal, based on his grandmother Joan Adelaide Goater’s fascinating life. The series has now reached Part 75 – and there are more stories to come – it’s simply wonderful.

We enjoy reading these gripping stores, and appreciate the beauty of nature with many trips and walks mentioned in the stories. Thank you Rick!

Joan Adelaide Goater - her journal about Chandler's Ford.

Thank you Allison Symes for your weekly series on Fridays – you have connected us to a wider writing community in the country. Your in-depth reviews of local theatre shows (the Chameleons and MDG Players) in particular, and your stories are always so enjoyable to read.

It’s always the highlights of my days when we go out together to watch these local performances, and have discussions afterwards.

Thank you Chippy Minton for your funny, quirky (and occasional serious) stuff – love your sense of humour.

Chippy, you can even bake! I look forward to seeing your cake this evening.

Chippy has finally convinced me that running could be fun, with mud, rain, wind… Now we do Eastleigh parkrun on Saturdays. While Chippy has earned his many milestone t-shirts, I need to run for 40 times to earn my very first one.

Yesterday a reader (Karen) sent me an email, saying “…love this site … brought back so many happy memories for me. Great work, thank you.” Thank you Karen – this few words really mean a lot to us, who share, write, edit, comment…

Finally I would like to say a big THANK YOU to Neil Duddridge, of SO53, which specalises in web design, web hosting, SEO. Thank you Neil for hosting this site over the years and dealing with technical problems and emergencies.

Wishing all our writers and readers – peace, joy, and happiness.

      Martin,

Many thanks for your kind words. Thank you for your articles, and your many comments regarding our local history.

It was lovely meeting you again yesterday at the church’s carol service. It was a beautiful service – I love the singing, reading, and the music (a bit of jazz as well!) and your reading was great.

I provide this platform – but I can’t take credits for all the hard work by so many people, including you. Our readers, writers, and anywho who reads and comments all help make this site a success.
