Always Read the Label

April 1, 2016 By Mike Sedgwick 6 Comments

When you are at your most vulnerable, you need all the help you can get. Do you get it? No. I live in a house full of women and I am well looked after in the most part but these girls turn the bathroom into a minefield.

There you are, in the shower, naked, enveloped in steam, water streaming into your eyes. You need shampoo. Your groping hand soon knocks several plastic bottles down into the shower pan. [Read more…] about Always Read the Label

Hiltingbury Post Office (and GoldDust)

March 15, 2016 By Janet Williams Leave a Comment

It’s rather unusual that you walk into a post office to buy curry ingredients.

But in Chandler’s Ford you can just do that.

It also sells GoldDust Masala Blend. [Read more…] about Hiltingbury Post Office (and GoldDust)

Winter – Ugliness and Beauty in Chandler’s Ford

February 5, 2016 By Allison Symes 3 Comments

I must admit winter is not my favourite season, much as I enjoy Christmas. Aside from the cold and the storms, the nights draw in that much earlier which limits the evening walks my better half and I can enjoy with the dog.

We love walking Mabel along The Monarch’s Way and the bridleways around that area (though right now it would be more accurately called The Muddy Way). [Read more…] about Winter – Ugliness and Beauty in Chandler’s Ford

10 Wishes for Chandler’s Ford for 2016

January 1, 2016 By Allison Symes 3 Comments

I’m not a big fan of New Year’s Resolutions. They usually mean giving up alcohol, which is not a huge problem for me as I don’t drink much, or chocolate and that is where I do run into difficulties!

However, I thought I would list some things I would love to see in 2016, all of which would benefit Chandler’s Ford and its residents.

When a Curtain Closes Another One Opens

December 12, 2015 By Roger Clark Leave a Comment

Thank you to all of those who came last night to see Far from the Madding Crowd at The Hilt. A good ol’ romantic to finish the season. Yes, I did notice the afterglow as you exited :-).

It’s my birthday this weekend, and I have some news for you.

Where are Defibrillators Located in Chandler’s Ford?

November 19, 2015 By Janet Williams 16 Comments

Defibrillator

Last month, while waiting for the bus, I noticed a bright yellow object on the outside wall of the Methodist Church.

It contains a piece of life-saving equipment, a defibrillator.

Nigel Moorse, the driving force behind making the defibrillator happen, explains to us in this article the origin of this defibrillator, and how you can benefit from it. [Read more…] about Where are Defibrillators Located in Chandler’s Ford?

November 15, 2015 By Roger Clark 7 Comments

High Jinks at the Hiltingbury Extravaganza 2015

October 9, 2015 By Allison Symes 9 Comments

Some of the great joys of writing for Chandler’s Ford Today are in meeting new people and going to events that are new to me.

The recent Hiltingbury Extrav was the first I’d visited despite living in Chandler’s Ford for over 25 years. So I thought I would look back at it as we leave the summer season with its shows and fetes behind.  (If anyone is in any doubt we are in autumn now, the recent wild weather should dispel that!).
