Easter Challenge

April 8, 2023 By chippy minton 3 Comments

As you may know, I like a challenge (at least I do when it is attainable).  I particularly enjoy the Treasure-Hunt challenges that add variety to an outdoor activity – or just a reason for an outdoor activity.  So when this one came up on a friend’s social media news feed, I had to give it a go.  The original challenge was to find these on a run, but I see no reason why it shouldn’t be a walk or a cycle ride – I myself did it on a cycle ride, over the course of about seven miles.

Find, and photograph, each of the following Easter-related items:

  1. Cross
  2. Daffodil
  3. Rabbit
  4. Chocolate Egg
  5. Church
  6. Rock
  7. Donkey
  8. Thorns
  9. Nails
  10. Something Purple

Here are my finds (not necessarily in the order in which I found them):

Easter Challenge Cross
A Cross. This was on the pavement in Valley Park
Easter Challenge Daffodils
Daffodils: this was probably the easiest to find, there were lots of them – even if many are now getting past their best. This display was on the verge of Woodside Avenue
Easter Challenge Rabbit
Rabbit. This post box topper was in Bosville
Easter Challenge Chocolate Egg
Chocolate Egg: Nothing in the rules that says it can’t be a photograph of a picture
Easter Challenge Church
Church: St Peter’s Church in Boyatt Wood
Easter Challenge Rock
Rock: This conveniently-placed rock was in the yard of Miles Stone in Woodside Avenue
Easter Challenge Donkey
Donkey. OK, I couldn’t find a donkey. So I decided that this tenuous link to a camel would have to do.
Easter Challenge Thorns
Thorns – if slightly out of focus. Blame the camera, not the photographer!. These were on the cycle path leading from Asda to Valley Park
Easter Challenge Nails
Nails. Well, no one said they had to be iron nails 🙂
Easter Challenge Something Purple
Something Purple: As with Daffodils, there were lots of purple flowers about. I chose this pansy-type flower from St Peter’s churchyard

About chippy minton

I've lived in Chandler's Ford and Eastleigh for most of my working life, having been brought up in the south Midlands, and schooled in the Home Counties.

I work in IT, and my hobbies include bell ringing, walking, cycling and running.

I enjoy live theatre and music, and try to watch many of the shows that are performed in the Eastleigh area.

    Nail look!

I had to do a google search to understand your photo of ‘Sopwith Camel’. A good one.

    Thank you.

Apparently, Sopwith aircraft (not necessarily camels) were flown from that piece of land – before the Pirelli factory was built.
