“I promised last year”, Gran writes on December 20th 1956, “that I would take Mother to Haberdashers’ School Carol Service at St Martin-in-the-Fields this Christmas, if possible, and today was the day!” The two ladies, together with Gran’s daughter Jane, travel by coach, meeting Jock and Julian in the Church.
