Wild Food Conference

March 21, 2014 By Janet Williams 2 Comments

Giles Gooding from @EcoEastleigh informed me of a conference on 4th April with a difference – Wild Food Conference.

Two speakers will talk about growing free food for both people and wildlife.

The talks will be held at Eastleigh House, Upper Market Street, on Friday 4th April from 5pm – 6.30pm.

The Incredible Edible Story by Mary Clear

Mary Clear is the co-founder of Incredible Edible (You are what you eat). She is a dreamer. She wants to make a kinder world using food and growing as the inspiration.

Mary said “Food and growing are important and nothing can be nicer than feeding a crowd round the kitchen table.”

Gardening with Wildlife in Mind by Natalie Light

Natalie Light is the Lifelong Engagement Officer at local wildlife conservation charity, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust.

Natalie manages the Trust’s wildlife gardening project and runs workshops, training sessions and gives advice to local communities and residents about how they can make a difference for wildlife in their own garden or greenspace.

Giles Gooding said the free event will encourage people to grow food that they can eat, in spaces that are currently unused. They can also grow plants, shrubs and trees that provide food for wildlife too.
